An acoustic core may include an array of resonant cells configured as a plurality of resonant cell groups. The resonant cell groups may include a plurality of resonant cells configured as a partitioned resonant cell that include a converging resonant cell and a diverging resonant cell. The converging resonant cell and the diverging resonant cell may be defined by a plurality of cell walls integrally formed with one another and a partition integrally formed with the plurality of cell walls. The partition may at least partially delimit the converging resonant cell from the diverging resonant cell. The converging resonant cell may define an upper resonant space delimited by the partition and a top face of the array of resonant cells. The diverging resonant cell may define a lower resonant space delimited by the partition and a bottom face of the array of resonant cells.

Tools and methods for forming acoustic cores

A system and method for bonding together a facesheet and an acoustic screen of an acoustic liner using a solid adhesive film having a first adhesive side opposite a second adhesive side are provided. The system includes a solid adhesive film having a first adhesive side opposite a second adhesive side; an acoustic screen bonded to the first adhesive side of the solid adhesive film; and a facesheet bonded to the second adhesive side of the solid adhesive film. The method includes bonding the facesheet to the first adhesive side of the solid adhesive film and bonding the acoustic screen to the second adhesive side of the solid adhesive film.

Acoustic cores and tools and methods for forming the same

Acoustic core segments include splicing resonant cells that resemble a first segment of a whole resonant cell configured to overlap and align with counterpart splicing resonant cells of another acoustic core segment so as to define a splice joint. The splicing resonant cells include one or more fastening elements configured to couple with corresponding counterpart splicing resonant cells thereby together defining coupled resonant cells. Acoustic liners have an acoustic core assembly that includes a first acoustic core segment mechanically joined with a second acoustic core segment by a combination of splicing resonant cells of the first acoustic core segment overlapping and aligning with splicing resonant cells of the second acoustic core segment so as to define a splice joint, and a plurality of fastening elements coupling splicing resonant cells of the first acoustic core segment with splicing resonant cells of the second acoustic core segment.
