A finger wearable device for monitoring vital signs at a finger includes a housing, a finger cuff, a plurality of vital sign sensors, and an electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor. The housing includes an interface surface for pressing against the finger. The finger cuff attaches to the housing and has a size and a shape to secure the housing to the finger and force the interface surface against the finger when the finger cuff is worn around the finger. The vital sign sensors are disposed in or on the housing and orientated to measure the vital signs from the finger of a wearer. The ECG sensor is disposed in or on the housing and coupled to first and second electrodes to measure ECG signals. The second electrode is disposed on the interface surface.

Comprehensive wearable vital signs monitor

Various examples are described for detecting heart rate and respiratory rate by using measurements of light applied to skin through an article. For example, a sensor application obtains a set of measurements of light. The application compensates for a contribution of the article based on one or more known optical properties of the article. The sensor application further determines, from the set of measurements of light, a periodic change in amplitude. The sensor application identifies the periodic change in amplitude as a heart rate having an identical periodicity. The sensor application identifies a respiratory rate as equal to the rate of change of the heart rate.

Sensing physiological parameters through an article

One disclosed example method includes receiving sensor data from a biosensor; determining an event using a first analysis based on the sensor data, the first analysis having a first power cost; determining to perform a second analysis based on the event; in response to determining to perform the second analysis, performing the second analysis based on the sensor data, the second analysis having a second power cost greater than the first power cost; and wirelessly transmitting results of the second analysis to a remote device.

Wearable biosensor devices with adaptive power consumption

A biopotential measurement device including a plurality of sensing electrodes and a controller is described. The plurality of sensing electrodes is adapted to measure one or more biopotential signals when the plurality of sensing electrodes is worn. The controller is coupled to the plurality of sensing electrodes and memory that stores instructions that when executed by the controller cause the biopotential measurement device to perform operations. The operations include collecting electrical signals over a first time period, each of the electrical signals associated with at least one of the plurality of sensing electrodes, mixing the electrical signals to generate a biopotential dataset that includes permutations of the electrical signals, and identifying a target biopotential signal included in the one or more biopotential signals based, at least in part, on the biopotential dataset.

Multi-lead measurement of biopotentials with wearable device

Various examples are described for using a movement sensor to detecting an activity of an infant. In an example, an activity classification system includes a sensor configured to measure the activity of an infant and an external monitor. The monitor receives, from a sensor, a time series of data comprising an inertial measurement for each a time period. The monitor determines, from the time series and by using a predictive model, an activity from a list of identified activities. Examples of identified activities are deep sleep, light sleep, sitting, awake, nursing, or bottle feeding.

Sensing and activity classification for infants

Various examples of a wearable sensor enclosure are described. In an example, a wearable sensor enclosure is generally oval-shaped with rigid interior that protects one or more sensors or other electronic devices. The enclosure includes a proximal component and a distal component. The proximal component of the enclosure optionally includes one or more openings for light to pass through for detection by sensing electronic devices. The distal component includes a protrusion positioned in an interior of the distal component and a lip positioned in along the perimeter of the distal component such that the lip surrounds the protrusion.
