An apparatus includes a top section, a middle section, and a bottom section of a spring actuator for a tape drive that form a C-shape of the spring actuator. The middle section includes three flexor columns, where a first writer module is bonded to a first flexor column from the three flexor columns, a reader module is bonded to a second flexor column from the three flexor columns, and a second writer module is bonded to a third flexor column from the three flexor columns.

An apparatus for a reworkable tape track following actuator includes a spring actuator, a head module, a voice coil, and a mounting body, where the spring actuator is coupled to the mounting body and the mounting body is removable from a tape drive assembly. The tape drive reel includes a hub including a first flange and a second flange. At least one of the first flange and the second flange includes a damping layer and a single stiffener layer positioned thereon. Provided are a tape erase element, tape erase device, and method for forming a tape erase element to erase content of a tape medium. The tape erase element comprises a housing forming a gap extending along a length of an outer surface of the housing. The gap extends from the outer surface of the housing to open into an inner space formed within the housing. A magnet is positioned within the inner space of the housing and having a surface extending across the gap. The magnet produces a magnetic flux that extends through a tape contact zone extending across a portion of the outer surface of the housing and the gap to erase content on the tape medium as the tape guide rollers guide the tape medium across the housing through the tape contact zone.

Provided are a storage cartridge, system, and method for a blocking mechanism for a storage cartridge to prevent insertion into a storage drive. The storage cartridge includes an outer surface having an opening, a blocking mechanism disposed within the storage cartridge, wherein in an unreleased state an end of the blocking mechanism is positioned at the opening in the outer surface, and a releasing mechanism coupled to the blocking mechanism in the unreleased state and to engage the blocking mechanism to urge the blocking mechanism to extend through the opening past the outer surface in a released state in a manner that prevents the storage cartridge from being inserted into the storage drive.

A beverage brewing device is configured to brew beverages such as coffee and tea. A brewing canister having a filter at a bottom end is held partially within a receiving beaker, and a seal is created between the canister outer surface and the beaker inner surface. Brewing media such as coffee grounds and brewing fluid such as hot water are added to the canister, mixed, and allowed to brew. At a desired time, the receiving beaker is moved relative to the brewing canister so that the brewing canister is partially removed from the receiving beaker. As such, a vacuum is formed between the bottom end of the brewing canister and the receiving beaker. The filter stops brewing media from flowing into the receiving beaker, but the vacuum draws the brewed beverage through the brewing media and filter and into the receiving beaker.

At least one jack screw from a tape deck base may be removed. The tape deck base may be below a rigid support base that includes a rigid support shaft in the center of the rigid support base. A piezoelectric stack may be inserted where the at least one jack screw was removed from the tape deck base. The piezoelectric stack may tilt a tape guide roller bearing in a skew direction to improve the motion of tape in a tape path.

A computer-implemented method for measuring servo to servo reader spacing in a module, according to one embodiment, includes cause emission of a measurable electro-magnetic signal from two writer elements that are fixed at a same span as a nominal servo reader spacing. The writer elements are positioned in multiple relative positions along a transducer array of a module having servo readers in the transducer array. The strength of the electro-magnetic signal detected by each servo reader is measured at the multiple relative positions. A determination is made, from the measured strengths, whether the servo reader span matches the nominal servo reader spacing.

Beverage brewing device

Controlling the position of a head within a tape transport system. A track-follow control system (TFCS) includes a controller device for generating a control signal as a function of a position error signal (PES), wherein the PES indicates a difference between the actual and target positions of the head relative to the tape, and an actuator for changing the actual position. The TFCS is adapted to select a controller device configuration from a plurality of configurations dependent on an operating tape speed. The configurations are predetermined depending on a vibration frequency domain profile indicative of environmental vibrations induced to the head and tape to determine the control signal for adjusting an actuator output signal relative to a lateral tape motion signal. The TFCS is also adapted to feed-back a signal depending on a difference of the actuator output signal and the lateral tape motion signal to generate the PES.
