A hover-capable aircraft includes a body including a tubular strut, a first rotor assembly rotatably coupled to the body and positioned about the strut, wherein the first rotor assembly includes a first plurality of circumferentially-spaced blades, a first actuation assembly including a first plurality of electronically controlled actuators coupled to a first swashplate and configured to control the movement of the first swashplate relative to the body, and a control system coupled to the body and configured to control the first plurality of actuators, wherein the control system includes a cable extending through a passage formed in the tubular strut and in signal communication with the first plurality of actuators.

A method for the preparation of a sucrose-6-ester is disclosed. In a first step of the method, sucrose in a polar aprotic solvent is reacted with an organotin-based acylation promoter. The water of reaction is removed at a temperature that does not exceed about 80&#xb0; C. In one aspect, the water is removed by distillation of part of the polar aprotic solvent at reduced pressure. In a second step, a carboxylic acid anhydride is added. In one aspect, the resulting reaction mixture is maintained at a temperature of 10&#xb0; C. or less for a period of time sufficient to produce a sucrose-6-ester. The sucrose-6-ester can be converted to sucralose.

Low temperature, single solvent process for the production of sucrose-6-ester

A method of removing a carboxylic acid from a liquid including a tertiary amide solvent includes: forming an extraction medium including an acid-extracting tin species and an extraction solvent that is immiscible with the tertiary amide solvent; subsequently contacting the liquid with the extraction medium, forming a phase including a de-acidified tertiary amide solvent and a phase including the extraction solvent; and removing the phase including the extraction solvent, to afford a liquid including the de-acidified tertiary amide solvent. The acid-extracting tin species is one or more tin species obtained by reaction of a di(hydrocarbyl) tin oxide with less than one equivalent of a carboxylic acid, or tin species obtainable by reaction of a 1,3-diacyloxy-1,1,3,3-tetra-(hydrocarbyl)distannoxane with an aqueous base. A method of preparing a sucralose-6-acylate includes uses the foregoing method to remove a carboxylic acid from a liquid including a tertiary amide solvent and the sucralose-6-acylate.

A conference call system comprising at least a gateway, a conference reservation agent and a multiport conference unit, can establish conference calls by calling conference call participants at a phone number specified by the conference call participants. When a user initiates a conference, an identifier is assigned to the conference and a URL referencing this identifier is transmitted to each conference participant. Upon clicking the URL, conference participants are presented with a web-form within which the participants can entered a preferred phone number and further join the conference. The multiport conference unit receives each participant phone number and calls the participants at that phone number. Upon establishing a telecommunication connection with each participant, the multiport conference unit bridges the multiple call legs to establish the conference call.

An apparatus that is adapted to reduce wobble in a tripod that is used to hold an optical instrument, includes a triangular shaped base plate that includes an attachment to each leg of the tripod. The base plate includes slots at each corner or apex thereof that provides for an adjustment range sufficient for most types of tripods. A member that is attached to each leg of the tripod is attached to each corner of the base plate. A lighted carousel that includes a battery operated light and is adapted to hold a plurality of lenses is disposed above the base plate. According to a modification, the slots are eliminated from the base plate and an adjustment bar having a slot therein is attached at one end to a modified base plate and, at a remaining end, to a member that is attached to each of the legs of the tripod.

An apparatus for increasing the stability of a tripod includes a centrally placed base member that includes three perimeter leg assemblies, each of which are adapted to cooperate with one of the legs of the tripod. Each of the leg assemblies includes a generally U-shaped member that surrounds a portion of each tripod leg and which cooperates with the base member so that when a portion of each respective leg assembly is tightened, an extension member is urged outward and into contact with an inside surface of one of the legs which, in turn, urges the leg outward until an outside of the leg bears tightly against an inside of the respective U-shaped member. Each tripod leg is accordingly placed under compression eliminating any possible movement thereby. The three forces that urge the legs outward are disposed radially around a center longitudinal axis, each force separated from both adjoining forces by 120 degrees of arc. The U-shaped members include any preferred size or shape and, if preferred, may be attached to the tripod legs.

A connector includes a barrel defining a cavity. A front portion is configured to removably mate with the barrel. An electrically conductive elongated pin is positioned in the opening of the front portion and the cavity of the barrel. The pin extends through a distal end of the front portion, and the pin includes a back end for mating with an electrically conductive element. A grasping device defines an aperture therethrough for receiving the electrical element. The grasping device is disposed within the cavity of the barrel. The grasping device is in an engaged position when the barrel and the front portion are coupled for holding the electrically conductive element positioned within the aperture, and the grasping device is in a disengaged position when the barrel and the front portion are uncoupled.

Test reports are produced in print and electronically using the same electronic document structures and data source files to ensure consistency between the two display mechanisms. The analyses and reports generated provide instructional information tailored to the student's or group's needs, as identified by analysis of test performance. Teachers and administrators can track the progress of students and groups through useful, accurate, and easily accessible test reports.

System and method for processing test reports

An apparatus for opening and closing window shutter slats or louvers converts rotary motion by a knob or electric motor into rotary motion of one of the slats. The apparatus is attached to a frame structure that is included with the window shutter and which surrounds the slats. A connecting rod that is pivotally attached to all of the slats pivots all of the slats an amount that is nearly equal to that of the one slat. The knob includes a first shaft that is attached to a drive gear in an enclosure which turns a driven gear. The driven gear is attached to a second shaft which is adapted to turn a pin end of the one slat. The motor is adapted to rotate one of the slats directly. Retrofit use and use in newly manufactured shutters is described. The apparatus can also be used to pivot open the shutter with respect to a pair of hinges that pivotally attach the shutter to a surrounding support structure.
