A bracket for a printer includes a frame with first and second side supports. A print area is defined in part by the side supports. A plurality of web support members laterally extends between the first and second side supports. The plurality of web support members include a top web support member disposed adjacent a top portion of the print area and a bottom web support member disposed adjacent a bottom portion of the print area. A printer support is configured for supporting a printer adjacent the print area. A window assembly is hingedly attached to the frame adjacent the print area. The window assembly includes a platen support member extending laterally between the first and second side supports. The window assembly is movable to provide access to the print area. At least one platen is disposed on the platen support member, the platen adapted for lateral positioning along the platen support member.

A system and method of protecting a printer housing against moisture infiltration, including affixing a fixed covering portion over the printer housing, wherein the affixing includes exposing a printing opening of the printer housing, and securing a removable covering portion to the fixed covering portion, wherein the removable covering portion covers the printing opening.

A system for applying linerless labels to mailing items includes a label feeder for feeding a continuous length web of linerless label material from a supply roll through a loop path to a label applying station juxtaposed to the path traversed by mailing items conveyed on edge in sequential fashion by a belt conveyor. The label material passes through a web guide and advance assembly to a cutter station operative to sever the label material transversely and create labels of desired height. A paddle member is operative to engage and hold each successive label as it is being severed from the label material web generally simultaneously to adhere the adhesive side of the label against a mailing items passing through the label applying station. The various operating functions of the linerless label applying system may be coordinated by conventional control logic.

Linerless label applying system

A pivotal tray unloading apparatus is directed to unloading a plurality of generally rectangular documents onto a feed ramp where the documents are disposed in a generally rectangular container. The container has a bottom surface, upstanding sidewalls and forward and rear endwalls. The apparatus has a primary axis defined to be coaxial with the common edge of the bottom surface and the rear endwall of the container. The apparatus includes a first generally planar reference surface, a second generally planar reference surface fixedly attached to the first reference surface at a substantially right angle, where the second reference surface has a support paddle operatively coupled thereto. The first and second reference surfaces are configured to pivot forwardly and backwardly about the primary axis. The backward pivoting of the reference surfaces effects registration of the plurality of documents toward the first reference surface. The reference surfaces are configured to rotate leftwardly and rightwardly about a longitudinal axis where the longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the primary axis. The leftward rotation of the reference surfaces and the container, simultaneously, effects registration of the plurality of documents toward the second reference surface. Rightward rotation of the reference surfaces and the container, simultaneously, effects positioning the documents in an on-edge orientation in a generally coplanar relationship with the feed ramp.

Pivotal tray unloading apparatus

A labeling assembly for applying labels carried on a substrate to a sequential series of moving documents is provided. The assembly transports the document in a generally vertical end on end orientation down a conveying path and peels the label from the substrate to position the peeled label in a generally vertical orientation. The labeling assembly also includes a paddle having a front surface with vacuum ports for attaching and releasably retaining the peeled label on the front surface. An actuating mechanism pivots the paddle to force an end of the retained label into contact with the document. Upon contact, the downstream end of the retained label adheres to the document and the label is pulled off the paddle. As the label is pulled off the paddle the contact between the end of the paddle presses the label against the document.
