An assembly integrates an aft wing spar root fitting to an aircraft fuselage when joining the aircraft wing to the aircraft body. The assembly provides structural strength to the connection between the aircraft wing and the aircraft body, provides corrosion prevention and provides improved inspection capabilities and repair capabilities to the aircraft wing and aircraft body connection.

Assembly and method connecting an aircraft wing aft spar root to an aircraft body fuselage

A joint for connecting a center wing box to a bulkhead of an aircraft. The joint includes a flex angle member with a first section shaped to abut against and be connected to the center wing box, a second section shaped to abut against and be connected to a first side of the deck of the bulkhead, and an intermediate rounded corner positioned between the first and second sections. First support members are attached to the center wing box at first pins and support a first side of the second section of the flex angle member. Second support members are attached to the web of the bulkhead at second pins and support a second side of the second section of the flex angle member. The first support members are positioned on a first side of the deck of the bulkhead and the second support members are positioned on an opposing second side of the deck.

Embodiments for hybrid pressure deck of an aircraft. One embodiment is a pressure deck disposed over a main gear wheel well of an aircraft. The pressure deck includes longitudinal beams extending in a forward and aft direction between an aft wheel well bulkhead and a rear spar of the aircraft. The pressure deck also includes a web attached to an underside of the longitudinal beams. The web includes a flat web portion supported by transverse stiffeners extending in an inboard and outboard direction, and a curved web portion including arches configured to flex laterally from load in the inboard and outboard direction. A transition between the flat web portion and the curved web portion extends at least partially in the forward and aft direction of the aircraft.

Hybrid pressure deck for aircraft

Pressure decks, aircraft that incorporate the pressure decks, and methods of manufacturing the pressure decks, where the pressure decks include a planar center deck section configured to be attached to a keel beam of the aircraft and a pair of diagonal deck panels each extending inwardly and downwardly from a front wing spar to the planar center deck section. The pressure deck attaches the front wing spar to the keel beam at positions selected to minimize deflection stresses on the pressure deck exerted by relative movement between the front wing spar and the keel beam.

Embodiments for aircraft pressure deck. One embodiment is a pressure deck of an aircraft. The pressure deck includes beams extending longitudinally along a fuselage of the aircraft, and a web attached to an underside of the beams, the web including arches between adjacent beams to allow the pressure deck to flex laterally. The pressure deck also includes a box structure between a middle pair of the beams and configured to transfer load forward to a rear spar of a wing of the aircraft and aft to an aft wheel well bulkhead of the aircraft. The pressure deck further includes a first intercostal outboard from the box structure and configured to stabilize a first outboard pair of the beams, and a second intercostal outboard from the first intercostal and coupled between a second outboard pair of the beams via a swing link to allow the second intercostal to flex laterally.

A joint joining an aircraft wing to an aircraft body employs a splice panel that is engaged in surface engagement with a skin panel on a side of the aircraft body and is engaged in surface engagement with a leg panel extending upwardly from the aircraft wing. A plurality of fasteners extend through the splice panel and the leg panel and extend through the splice panel and the skin panel. The plurality of fasteners attach the splice panel to the skin panel and attach the splice panel to the leg panel and thereby attach the skin panel to the leg panel. After fastener holes have been drilled through the splice panel and the leg panel to attach the splice panel to the leg panel, the splice panel can be removed from the leg panel. This provides easy access to the fastener holes drilled through the leg panel for deburring of the fastener holes.

An arched gutter that can be used to channel moisture within an aircraft can include an arched web including a plurality of laterally spaced arches. The plurality of arches impart a flexibility to the arched gutter such that the arched gutter has an increased resistance to fatigue cracking and other wear and damage resulting from, for example, parasitic loads due to high bending strains that are transferred to the arched gutter by a wing to which the arched gutter is attached during operation of the aircraft. An aircraft section and an aircraft including the arched gutter are also described.

An aircraft comprises a fuselage, a wing assembly, and a pinned fuselage-to-wing connection including a forward pin joint, an aft pin joint, and intermediate pin joints between the forward and aft pin joints. The intermediate pin joints have pins aligned in an axial direction and are configured to slide along the axial direction without transferring axial loads from the wing assembly to the fuselage. At least one of the forward and aft pin joints is constrained to prevent translation along the axial direction.

A splice and an associated method are provided in order to efficiently join structures, such as adjacent fuselage sections. A splice for joining fuselage sections may include a strap configured to bridge the fuselage sections, a shear tie overlying the strap and a fitting positioned between the strap and the shear tie such that the strap and the shear tie are spaced apart. At least the strap and the fitting may be formed of a composite material. The fitting may have an H-shape and may have first and second longitudinally extending sections that extend beyond opposite sides of the strap. Each longitudinally extending section is configured to overlie at least two stringers of a respective fuselage section. The fitting may also have a medial portion upon which the shear tie is seated.
