A coating composition which comprises a dispersion which is a melt blended product of one or more olefinic base polymers; one or more dispersants; one or more compatibilizers; water; and optionally base; wherein the dispersion exhibits an average volume mean particle size diameter of less than or equal to 2 microns, a solids content of equal to or less than 70 wt %, and a pH of 8 or greater; one or more rheology modifiers; and optionally one or more neutralizing agents is provided. A resin composition is comprised of an epoxy resin comprised of a solid epoxy resin and a liquid polyurethane toughener that is dissolved in the epoxy resin and, upon curing of the liquid epoxy resin, the liquid polyurethane toughener phase separates into particles having a particle size of 50 nm to 2 micrometers, an epoxy hardener; and an epoxy soluble latent catalyst. The resin composition provides a more homogeneous infusion of the resin into a fibrous material for forming a prepreg and ultimately an epoxy fiber reinforced composition with improved toughness without sacrificing speed of impregnation or uniformity of the epoxy matrix within the composite.

A molding compound is made by heat-softening, fusing and compressing strips of unidirectionally aligned filaments embedded in a thermosetting resin. The thermosetting resin is non-tacky at room temperature, which allows for easy handling, elimination of cold storage and the use of robotic manufacturing methods. Composites made by molding the molding compound have excellent, highly isotropic tensile properties.

The disclosure provides for a method including: a) forming a layered tubular member () by placing one or more outer layers () about an inner layer () and joining at one or more seams () along a length of the layered tubular member, wherein the one or more outer layers include a first resin impregnated therein; b) applying the first resin or a second resin at the one or more seams; c) creating one or more fillets () along the one or more seams with the first resin, the second resin, or an adhesive; and d) curing the first resin, the second resin, and the adhesive so that the layered tubular member, the first resin, the second resin, and the adhesive form a composite structure having a tubular shape.

The present invention provides thermosetting resin pre-impregnated or infused fiber materials or prepregs comprising a fiber material of a heat resistant fiber, such as a continuous fiber material or a discontinuous chopped fiber mat, infused with a thermosetting resin mixture comprising (i) at least one liquid epoxy resin; (ii) at least one epoxy novolac resin, (iii) dicyandiamide and (iv) and an adduct of a cycloaliphatic amine and a liquid epoxy resin, wherein the dicyandiamide is dissolved in the adduct of a cycloaliphatic amine and a liquid epoxy resin. The prepreg or fiber material has a shelf life of at least 30 days at ambient temperature and pressure before its Initial Tg (DSC) rises above 40&#xb0; C.
