According to the method, a pre-measurement is carried out by the magnetic resonance apparatus, wherein carrying out the pre-measurement includes acquiring pre-measurement data for the object under examination. Techniques are provided for operating a magnetic resonance tomography unit. The operation includes determining a B0 field map, determining an excitation of the nuclear spins that is to be achieved, and determining a spectrally selective, generic excitation pulse for transmission by the transmitter via the antenna in dependence upon the B0 field map. The generic excitation pulse is designed to generate the excitation of the nuclear spins that is to be achieved in the patient except for local differences. The operation also comprises determining a spectrally selective, dynamic excitation pulse for transmission by the transmitter via the antenna in dependence upon the B0 field map. The excitation pulse is designed so as to compensate the local differences and thus to generate the excitation of the nuclear spins that is to be achieved in the patient, and outputting the excitation pulse via the antenna.

A method for operating a magnetic resonance device is provided. The magnetic resonance device includes a component that has an operating limit in relation to a state parameter. The component uses a protocol to record magnetic resonance data. The protocol includes a magnetic resonance sequence and is described by protocol parameters. A protocol parameter set that, in relation to a protocol section, allows the protocol section to be repeated as often as desired without exceeding the operating limit is provided or determined. The method includes receiving a boost parameter from a user interface. At least for the protocol section, adaptation parameters are determined at least partially automatically based on the boost parameter, such that the desired number of repetitions described by the boost parameter is established while complying with the operating limit. Magnetic resonance data is recorded with the protocol using the determined adaptation parameters.

In a method to improved positioning of slices in which measurement data is to be recorded, a planning image of an examination object is provided that has been distortion-corrected using non-linearity data describing a non-linearity of a gradient unit of the magnetic resonance system, a desired field of view and desired slices in the at least one planning image are selected, a measurement protocol to record the measurement data is loaded, switchable gradients and/or emittable RF pulses are adapted, as a function of the non-linearity data that has been loaded and the desired slices, such that the desired slices are excited despite the non-linearities of the gradient unit, and the loaded measurement protocol is performed in the selected field of view, using the adapted gradients to be switched and/or adapted RF pulses. A method for performing a magnetic resonance measurement of a patient using a magnetic resonance apparatus is provided. The magnetic resonance apparatus includes a radiofrequency antenna unit for producing an excitation pulse. A first B0 field map for a first motion state of the patient, and a second B0 field map for a second motion state of the patient are provided. A first excitation pulse for the first motion state, and a second excitation pulse for the second motion state are determined based on the first B0 field map and the second B0 field map. A magnetic resonance measurement is performed, during which the motion state of the patient is monitored. When the patient is in the first motion state, the radiofrequency antenna unit transmits the first excitation pulse. When the patient is in the second motion state, the radiofrequency antenna unit transmits the second excitation pulse.

Techniques are provided for operating an MR scanner that comprises gradient coils configured to generate a field gradient along coordinate axes of a coil coordinate system. The techniques include receiving limit values concerning the field gradient in the coil coordinate system and an MR scan protocol. Expected orientations of a logical coordinate system are then determined and, for each one, a compliant value for a timing parameter is determined and stored in a database. The MR scanner is controlled to carry out an MR scan, and afterwards the orientation is set to a first orientation.
