A golf ball having a compressible core with an RFID tag embedded therein is described. The compressible core comprises an outer core that surrounds an inner core and the RFID tag. The outer core has a hardness that is greater than the inner core. The RFID tag is composed of a planar carrier, a planar RFID integrated circuit, and an RFID antenna. The RFID integrated circuit includes a memory that stores at least one unique identifier. The RFID antenna is electrically coupled to the planar RFID integrated circuit. The planar carrier includes a first carrier surface that is parallel to a second carrier surface, and the planar carrier receives the RFID antenna and the RFID integrated circuit on the first carrier surface to form the RFID tag. Additionally, the molded shell encapsulates the compressible core.

A compressible core with an RFID tag is described. The compressible core comprises an RFID integrated circuit, and an inlay material sandwiched between a top hemisphere and a bottom hemisphere. The RFID integrated circuit includes a memory that stores a unique identifier. The inlay material includes an RFID antenna electrically coupled to the RFID integrated circuit. The top hemisphere of the compressible core is separated from the bottom hemisphere of the compressible core. The inlay with the RFID antenna and the RFID integrated circuit placed between the top and bottom hemispheres. The top hemisphere, the inlay and the bottom hemisphere are joined together forming a compressible core. Additionally, the molded shell encapsulates the compressible core.

A spherical compressible ball having an RFID tag is described. The ball comprises an RFID integrated circuit, an encapsulating material, a first antenna contact, a first conductive wire, a molded compressible core, and a molded shell. The RFID integrated circuit includes a memory that stores a unique identifier. The encapsulating material encapsulates the RFID integrated circuit. The first antenna contact is electrically coupled to the encapsulated RFID integrated circuit. The first conductive wire is electrically coupled to the first antenna contact. The molded compressible core includes a molded impression that receives the encapsulated RFID integrated circuit and the conductive wire. The molded shell further encapsulates the molded compressible core that receives the encapsulated RFID integrated circuit and antenna.

A multi-core golf ball with an RFID tag embedded thereon is described herein. The multi-core golf ball includes a spherical inner core, an RFID tag, an outer core, and a dimpled cover. The RFID tag is positioned to interface with the spherical inner core. The outer core is configured to encapsulate the spherical inner core and the RFID tag. The dimpled cover is further configured to encase the spherical inner core, the RFID tag and the outer core.

A multi-core golf ball having a split inner core with an RFID tag disposed thereon is described herein. The multi-core golf ball includes a split spherical inner core having a first inner core section and a second inner core section that interfaces with the first inner core section. The multi-core golf ball also includes an RFID tag, an outer core, and a dimpled cover. The RFID tag is positioned between the first inner core section and the second inner core section. The outer core encapsulates the split spherical inner core and the RFID tag. The dimpled cover encases the outer core.

A compressible core with an RFID tag is described. The compressible core includes an RFID integrated circuit, a carrier material, a molded compressible core, and a fill material. The RFID integrated circuit includes a memory that stores at least one unique identifier. The carrier material includes an RFID antenna electrically coupled to the RFID integrated circuit. The molded compressible core has a center and a spherical surface. Additionally, the molded compressible core includes a molded impression that receives the carrier material with the antenna and RFID integrated circuit. The fill material fills the molded impression occupied by the inlay.

A radio-frequency identification (RFID) golf ball range target system is described. The RFID golf ball range target system includes a RFID golf ball, a scanner, a client computer, a game selection module, a target, a target RFID reader and a target network communications module. The RFID golf ball that includes a RFID tag fixedly coupled to the surface of a spherical golf ball core corresponding to the RFID golf ball, wherein the RFID tag is disposed between the spherical golf ball core and a spherical golf ball shell. A unique RFID golf ball identifier is associated with the RFID golf ball. In the illustrative embodiment, the RFID tag includes an omnidirectional antenna that operates in the ultra-high-frequency (UHF) range. Additionally, the illustrative RFID tag can be encapsulated in a flexible substrate that is disposed between the spherical golf ball core and a spherical golf ball shell.

RFID golf ball target system and method

A golf ball range target system that includes a golf target, a golf ball dispenser, at least one golf ball, a target sensor, a tracking module, and a client computer is described. The golf target has a known geographic location and includes at least one golf target area. The golf ball dispenser houses golf balls. Each golf ball is associated with a particular player. The tracking module determines a golf ball flight trajectory for the golf ball associated with the particular player. The target sensor determines whether the golf ball has landed in a target area.
