A textile graft includes a tubular wall disposed between a first open end and an opposed second open end and having an inner surface and an opposed outer surface. The tubular wall includes a textile construction of one or more filaments or yarns, the textile construction by itself being permeable to liquid. A portion of the inner surface of the tubular wall includes a coating of a substantially water-soluble material thereon. The outer surface includes a coating of a substantially water-insoluble elastomeric sealant disposed thereon. The tubular wall having the coating of the substantially water-insoluble elastomeric sealant is, after curing thereof, substantially impermeable to liquid.

Textile products having a sealant or coating and method of manufacture

A medical textile product includes a textile substrate having opposed first and second surfaces with the textile substrate including a textile construction of one or more yarns. The second surface includes a coating of a substantially water-insoluble, non-porous elastomeric sealant. The one or more yarns at the first surface are pre-treated with a removable composition, such that the water-insoluble elastomeric sealant encapsulates a portion of fibers of the one or more yarns at the second surface of the textile substrate. The textile substrate is substantially impermeable to fluid. The first surface is substantially free of the substantially water-insoluble elastomeric sealant. The textile substrate may be a non-tubular substrate, such as a planar sheet, a shaped sheet, and a tape, or a tubular substrate, such as a cylindrical conduit, a tubular conduit, a Y-shaped, a T-shaped conduit, a multi-channel conduit, and a bulbous shaped conduit.

A method of detecting the presence or absence of a sealant applied to a textile graft includes the steps of: providing a textile graft having a first surface and an opposed second surface; providing a water soluble masking agent; applying the water soluble masking agent to at least a portion of the first surface of the textile graft; providing a sealant solution; providing a visual indicator; applying the water insoluble sealing agent and the visual indicator to the second surface of the textile graft; and removing the water soluble masking agent after the step of applying sealing solution. The second surface has visual indication of the visual indicator and the first surface is substantially free of visual indication of the visual indicator. An implantable textile graft includes the selectively applied visual indicator.

Textile products having selectively applied sealant or coating with visual indicator and method of detecting the same

A method of manufacturing a tubular graft may include the steps of: providing a textile including a tubular wall disposed between a first open end and an opposed second open end, an inner surface and an opposed outer surface defining an interior wall portion therein between, the tubular wall including a textile construction of one or more filaments or yarns, the textile construction by itself being permeable to liquid; applying a substantially water-soluble material to at least a portion of the tubular wall; and applying a substantially water-insoluble sealant to at least a part of the outer surface of the tubular wall, the substantially water-insoluble sealant being configured to mitigate movement of fluid through the wall of the conduit; where the water-soluble material is configured to mitigate penetration of the sealant to the inner surface of the conduit.

A control system for deploying a stent graft including a resilient ring stent at one end, provides a delivery shaft carrying the stent graft with the ring stent adjacent a proximal end of the shaft for insertion into a lumen; a retractable sleeve for containing the stent graft on the delivery shaft; a control handle adjacent the distal end, of the delivery shaft; and stent peak and valley control wires extending from the proximal end of the delivery shaft to peak and valley controllers at the control handle. Use of the control wires effects movement and/or rotation of the graft allowing fine control of deployment in the lumen.

Method and apparatus for controlling the deployment of a stent

A substantially fluid impermeable textile graft may be produced by selective application of a substantially water-soluble material or masking agent, and optionally selective removal of excess substantially water-soluble material, followed by the application of a substantially water-insoluble sealant. The inner surface of the graft includes a coating of the substantially water-soluble material thereon. The outer surface includes a coating of the substantially water-insoluble sealant disposed thereon. The tubular wall having the coating of the substantially water-insoluble sealant is, after curing thereof, substantially impermeable to liquid. The substantially water-soluble material is removed from the graft after the application of the substantially water-insoluble sealant.

Textile products having selectively applied sealant or coating and method of manufacture

A control system for deploying a stent graft () including a resilient ring stent () at one end, provides a delivery shaft () carrying the stent graft with the ring stent adjacent a proximal end () of the shaft for insertion into a lumen; a retractable sleeve () for containing the stent graft on the delivery shaft; a control handle () adjacent the distal end (), of the delivery shaft; and stent peak () and valley () control wires extending from the proximal end of the delivery shaft to peak and valley controllers () at the control handle. Use of the control wires effects movement and/or rotation of the graft allowing fine control of deployment in the lumen.

There is provided a stent element comprising a central portion with two arms extending therefrom, optionally in a V-shaped or Y-shaped configuration. The arms of the stent-element are resiliently deformable to facilitate packing and suitable material for forming the stent-element is nitinol or PEEK. The stent element can be used to stabilise two adjacent ring stents on a stent graft by attachment to the graft material between the ring stents, for example by sewing. The stent element stabilises the ring stent without risk of fracture. A stent graft having two ring stents and the stent element located between the ring stents is also described.

Stent element

There is provided a device to secure a prosthesis, such as a stent graft, to the internal wall of a body lumen. The device is formed from two elongate elements each comprising a central portion with at least one arm extending therefrom. The central portions of the elements abut. Optionally, the central portions are joined together, optionally by a joining element which can act as a hinge. The terminal end of each arm can be shaped for engagement with the inner surface of the body lumen. The device is reversibly interchangeable between a first folded configuration and a second deployed or open configuration. The device is preferably attached to the sleeve of a stent graft independent of the stents which are preferably ring stents. A stent graft comprising the device is also described.

Device for securing a prosthesis to the internal wall of a body lumen

A prosthesis that resiliently engages a body passage includes an annular clamping ring which may be folded along a diametric axis for insertion into the body passage. The clamping ring is adapted to resiliently spring outwardly, once in position inside the body passage, and to be continually resiliently biased against the interior surface of the body passage. One or more of the clamping rings may be attached to opposed ends of a tubular graft. The rings and connected graft may be positioned in the body passage using a applicator which selectively permits expansion and/or in some embodiments contraction of the annular ring in position within a body passage. Alternatively a retaining member may be used to retain the annular ring in a compressed condition until it is in a desired position within a body passage. Among other potential uses, the present invention may be useful as a vascular stent for treating abdominal aortic aneurysms.
