A tank assembly has heat-generating equipment contained therein. The tank assembly includes a tank having an opening, and a thermal siphon fixed to the tank and sealing the opening of the tank. The thermal siphon has a main body portion and a loop portion. The thermal siphon contains a liquid and a gas. A center of the loop portion is exposed to the environment.

Cooling system for tanks

The disclosed concept relates to electrical isolation between power electronic and cooling and/or mounting components and, in particular, a ceramic layer disposed on one or more portions of the cooling and/or mounting components to provide electrical isolation, as well as, a thermally conductive path to remove heat produced by the power electronic component.

Ceramic coated flow channels for electrical isolation and thermal transfer

A gas insulated switchgear (GIS) system is provided including at least two separate modules including components of GIS, the at least two separate modules being independent of one another and configured to be assembled into the GIS system at a destination, wherein one or more of the at least two separate modules includes one of cabling and a solid insulated bus bar to connect the GIS system to an electrical power system at the destination. Related cabling modules are also provided.

Modular gas insulated switchgear systems and related cabling modules

Modular switchgear systems are provided including at least two separate modules including components of switchgear. The at least two separate modules are independent of one another. One of the at least two separate modules is a stationary module and remaining ones of the at least two separate modules are removable such that the remaining ones of the at least two separate modules are configured to engage and/or disengage easily from the stationary module and an electrical power system. Related removable modules are also provided.

Interchangeable switchgear modules and related systems

A tank assembly has heat-generating equipment contained therein. The tank assembly includes a heat pipe having an opening, wherein an interior of the heat pipe contains a liquid and a gas. The tank assembly further includes a tank fixed to the heat pipe and sealing the opening of the heat pipe. The tank houses at least one of a disconnector switch and a circuit breaker operatively connected to the disconnector switch. The sealing of the opening of the heat pipe prevents the liquid and the gas from entering the tank. The heat pipe extends beyond a side of the tank, and has a cooling portion.

The disclosed concept relates to electrical isolation between power electronic and cooling and/or mounting components and, in particular, a ceramic layer positioned at the interface of the power electronic and cooling and/or mounting components to provide electrical isolation, as well as, a thermally conductive path to remove heat produced by the power electronic component.

Ceramic plated materials for electrical isolation and thermal transfer

A heat management system includes a tank and a thermal siphon attached to the tank. The thermal siphon contains a liquid that absorbs heat via thermal conduction from the tank. The liquid is heated to a vaporization point, and the heat from the vaporized liquid is transferred to cooling fins extending from the thermal siphon.

An arc-resistant electrical enclosure includes an arresting system that permits forced-air cooling of the interior region to occur during ordinary operation of the enclosure while resisting the flow of hot gases, plasma, and flames to the exterior of the electrical enclosure in an arc event or other event. The arresting system advantageously includes a louver apparatus and a cover apparatus that work in conjunction to resist the flow of gases, plasma, and flames to the exterior of the cabinet in an arc event. The louver apparatus includes louvers that can be moved from an open state to a closed state responsive to a predetermined fluid pressure impinging on the louvers. The cover apparatus includes a fire blocking panel that permits fluid flow therethrough during ordinary operation but which, responsive to a flame, initiates a transformation from one state to another state wherein the openings resist the communication of flames therethrough.

Arresting system usable with arc-resistant electrical enclosure

An apparatus includes at least one evaporator having a surface configured for mounting of a power electronic device thereon, a condenser fluidically coupled to the at least one evaporator by at least two coolant conduits that electrically insulate the at least one evaporator from the condenser, and a dielectric coolant contained in a thermosyphon loop comprising the at least one evaporator, the condenser and the at least two coolant conduits. The at least one evaporator may include at least two evaporators fluidically coupled by at least one coupler that electrically insulates the at least two evaporators from one another. The at least one evaporator may be housed within an enclosure, and the condenser may be positioned within the enclosure or outside of the enclosure.
