A flat cable connection system includes a flat cable module having a power input segment and drop connectors that provides a low profile configuration; the drop connectors include a spring component, a non-spliced flat cable end portion and a connector body that serves to capture the flat cable end portion and to provide an electrical connection to an electrical accessory of the type associated with a headliner of a vehicle.

Flat cable drop connection system

An electrical connector for connecting a terminal portion of a first flexible circuit to a terminal portion of a second flexible circuit has a first clamp member and a second clamp member that cooperate to clamp the terminal portions against each other. Each clamp member has a bed with a support cooperating with the support of the other clamp member for clamping the terminal portions of the flexible circuits together. Each bed has two posts and two assembly holes. Each post engages a pilot hole of each terminal portion and an assembly hole of the other bed to orient and position the terminal portions of the flexible circuits with respect to the clamp members and the clamp members with respect to each other. Each clamp member also has two latch arms and two lock nibs for engaging respective lock nibs and latch arms of the other clamp member for attaching the clamp members to each other. The clamp members are preferably identical but may come in several versions that are interchangeable.

Flexible circuit connector

A modular buss center for an automotive vehicle is provided including a first plug connector; an intermediate terminal having a first male end and a second female end and at least one arm, the first end being electrically connected to the first plug connector; a first template with a hole for receipt of the intermediate terminal; at least one flex circuit, the flex circuit having at least one cut-out flag, the flag making contact with the intermediate terminal arm; a second template separated from the first template by the flex circuit, the second template having a hole for receipt of the intermediate terminal second end; and an electrical component positioned on the second template opposite the flex circuit, the electrical component being electrically connected to the intermediate terminal second end.

Automotive vehicle modular buss

A blind assembly electrical connective arrangement is provided for mating an electrical component with a first structure to a flexible circuit, the flexible circuit being positioned adjacent a second structure, the second structure having first and second surfaces penetrated by an aperture, the arrangement including a male slider, the slider having a platform projecting in a first direction, the platform providing a presentation surface for the flexible circuit, the slider also having at least one set of fingers juxtaposing the second structure, at least one of the fingers being compliant, and the male slider also having an alignment post; and a female housing connected with the electrical component, the female housing having a cavity to receive the platform in the alignment post of the male slider, the female housing having at least one terminal biased for contact with the flexible circuit and wherein movement of the electrical component in a second direction opposite the first direction toward the second structure causes the slider to move in a first plane to align itself with the female housing and to establish an electrical connection.

Self-aligning electrical connective arrangement

An automotive light arrangement is provided including a cartridge bulb which is generally cylindrical with a terminal cup at first and second ends; a terminal having two opposed arms, the arms having a first section of a bulb receiving end, the arms having a bulb clasping second section for compliantly holding a bulb terminal cap between the arms, the arms having a third section extending away from each other to a central plane section, the central plane section having first and second ends, the central plane section having at the first and second ends a pair of opposed ears extending in a direction toward the bulb cap generally perpendicular to the central plane section, each ear having an aperture, and the opposed ears at the first end being spaced from the opposed ears of the second end of the central section, and the terminal having a finger cut out from the plane section extending downwardly toward the cartridge bulb; a terminal housing mounting the terminal, the terminal housing having two apertures bifurcated by a bridge section, each aperture having an internal wall with a lock ramp for entry into the aperture of the ears to rigidly secure the terminal within the housing; and a flexible circuit having an exposed conductor leg positioned on the terminal housing bridge being biased in position and contacted by the terminal finger.
