An electrical switching device that includes first and second circuit assemblies. Each of the first and second circuit assemblies includes a base terminal and a moveable terminal that is configured to flex to and from the base terminal. The switching device also includes a coupling element that is operatively coupled to the moveable terminals of the first and second circuit assemblies. The switching device also includes an electromechanical motor that has a pivot body that is operatively coupled to the coupling element. The pivot body is configured to rotate bi-directionally about a center of rotation. The pivot body moves the coupling element side-to-side along a longitudinal axis so that the moveable terminals move in a common direction with respect to each other and along the longitudinal axis when the pivot body is rotated between first and second rotational positions.

Electrical switching devices having moveable terminals

The invention is directed to a switch assembly which can be used in situation in which the switch accommodates the flow of high voltage current. An actuator assembly with moveable contacts is moved by a motor driven armature. The moveable contacts are in electrical engagement with the stationary contacts when the armature is in the first position, and the moveable contacts are spaced from the stationary contacts when the armature is in the second position. By angling the stationary contacts and moveable contacts, the linear motion of the armature causes the moveable contacts to move across the surface of the stationary contacts as the armature approaches the first position. As all of the movements of the assembly are in a direction parallel to the axis of the armature, the assembly can be manufactured and operated reliably in a relatively small space. In addition, the linear movement on the angled contact provides for a positive electrical connection even in adverse environments.

Switching device

An electromagnetic relay includes a relay coil assembly, an armature, and a contact system. The contact system includes a stationary contact assembly stationary contacts and moveable contact springs adjacent to the stationary contacts. The moveable contact springs have a projecting portion. The armature is pivotably actuated in response to an electromagnetic force generated by the relay coil to move the at least one contact spring linearly between a first position and a second position. The stationary contact assembly includes an overmold portion attached to the at least one stationary contact. The overmold portion includes a dielectric material and is bonded to the at least one stationary contact to maintain a predetermined configuration of the stationary contact relative to the at least one moveable contact spring.

Electromagnetic relay

An electromagnetic relay has a relay coil, an armature, a pusher and a contact system. The armature is actuated by the relay coil, and linked to the pusher to drive the pusher to operate the contact system. A set of stationary contact springs and a set of moveable contact springs have a gap separating them. The moveable contact springs connect to the pusher and to a pivot point. The stationary springs have a notch therein adjacent to the base structure portion. The pusher movement causes the stationary contact springs and the moveable contact springs to engage or disengage, and to automatically adjust the overtravel angle of the stationary contact springs relative to the moveable contact springs by bending the stationary contact spring at the notch of the stationary contact spring.

Relay with automated overtravel adjustment

A socket connector is provided for electrically connecting an electromagnetic relay to a plurality of electrical wires that are terminated by a mating connector. The socket connector includes a dielectric housing having a relay mounting base and a wire connector. The relay mounting base includes at least one relay receptacle. The relay mounting base is configured to receive the electromagnetic relay thereon. A plurality of terminals is held by the housing. Each terminal includes a relay contact portion and a connector contact portion. The relay contact portion extends within the at least one relay receptacle for electrical connection with the electromagnetic relay. The connector contact portion extends within the wire connector for electrical connection to the mating connector.

Socket connector for a relay

An electromagnetic relay has an overtravel adjustment to set the gap in the contact arrangement. The armature is actuated by a relay coil and linked to a pusher to drive the pusher to operate the contact system. The pusher includes a rotary dial disposed in a slot on the pusher adjacent to the armature. The rotary adjustment increases or decreases a gap of the contacts to provide an over-travel adjustment. The pusher includes bifurcated tines defining the slot for receiving an armature linkage and the rotary adjustment. The rotary adjustment includes a head and a post depending from the head. The post is disposed within the slot and the head portion in contact with the armature linkage portion. The rotary adjustment sets the distance between the forward edge and the armature to achieve the desired overtravel for the contact arrangement.

Relay with overtravel adjustment

A first aspect of the invention includes a power relay assembly having a motor assembly and actuator assembly disposed in a housing. The actuator assembly includes at least one bridge assembly having one or more contacts arranged to provide selective electrical connections. The actuator assembly is attached to an armature of the motor assembly. The armature is arranged and disposed to drive the actuator assembly. The motor assembly includes an electromagnetic coil assembly disposed around at least a portion of the armature. A magnetic pole piece is configured adjacent to an end of the coil assembly. The pole piece includes an armature seat configured to attract and receive the armature when the coil assembly is magnetized. The armature seat has a taper configured to provide a substantially constant attractive force along the stroke length.

Power relay

A hydraulic assembly and method for use with an vehicle engine exhaust flow control valve for controlling flow to at least one intake supply. The assembly has an actuator, such as a spring return piston cylinder, for positioning the control valve. An inlet passage, communicating with the cylinder, is arranged for supplying hydraulic fluid to a side of the actuator and a drain is arranged for draining the hydraulic fluid from the side of the actuator. An on-off type hydraulic valve, communicating with the drain, is operably coupled to the cylinder for controlling communication of the hydraulic fluid from the cylinder side to the drain. When the hydraulic assembly is in use, the pressure of hydraulic fluid acting on the actuator is adjustable by operation of the on-off type valve thereby to control movement of the actuator and, in turn, movement of the control valve.

Hydraulic apparatus, system and method for positioning an engine exhaust flow control valve

Valve structures include a combination of spool valving and poppet valving. A spool function of the structure regulates the flow of a liquid, such as the flow of fuel to a diesel engine. A poppet function provides a low leakage in the valve in a closed or cut-off state. With this combination in a valve, spool clearance can be increased reducing the cost and precision machining/assembly of the components, because the poppet to seat closure provides the sealing function at cut-off. Included are an air-gap flux adjustment to adjust responsiveness to control current, and a force pre-load adjustment.

Spool and poppet inlet metering valve

There is provided an electromagnetic actuator which includes a coil disposed about a tube bearing a movable armature, the coil being electrically connectable to a circuit configured to provide a current to the coil to generate a magnetic field and magnetic flux in at least one direction. The movable armature is magnetically coupleable with the coil. A flux adjustment element is also provide and is configured for movement within a magnetic flux output by the coil so as to increase a magnetic flux input to the armature upon movement of the flux adjustment element in a first direction and to decrease a magnetic flux input to the armature upon movement of the flux adjustment element in a second direction, wherein the flux adjustment element is externally disposed about a distal end of the tube.

Pressure regulating valve with adjustment features

An upper body exercise apparatus which is effective for developing a variety of muscle groups of the upper body. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus comprises two V-shaped members which are pivotally attached at a central joint. One end of each member forms a grip for a user's hand. The opposite ends of the members form heads to which a desired number of force-resisting elements, either of the same or different types, are removably secured.
