An anchor for securing seat belt component to a vehicle includes a latch member for securing a tongue portion of the component within a housing. The latch member is movable between a first position wherein a protrusion on the latch member engages the tongue and a second position wherein the protrusion is displaced for releasing the tongue. A biasing member provides a biasing force to maintain the latch in the first position. The housing includes a latch-access area for allowing the latch member to be engaged for manually forcing the latch member to the second position to allow the tongue portion to be removed, so that the anchor does not have a release button.

Apparatus and method for attaching seat belt components

A seat belt buckle, comprising: a frame portion; a release button slidably mounted to the frame portion for movement between a first position and a second position; an inertia locking device rotatably mounted to the frame portion for movement between a blocking position and an unblocking position, the inertia locking device being configured to make contact with a cam surface of the release button when the inertia locking device is in the blocking position and slidable movement of the release button with respect to the frame portion is prevented when the inertia locking device is in the blocking position and the inertia locking device contacts the cam surface of the release button; and a biasing member for providing a biasing force for biasing the inertia locking device into the unblocking position, the inertia locking device being rotated into the blocking position when the biasing force of the biasing member is overcome.

A seat belt buckle for use with a tongue of a seat belt, the seat belt buckle comprising: a frame portion; a latch being movably mounted to the frame portion for movement between a first position and a second position, the latch being configured to engage a portion of the tongue as the latch moves from the first position to the second position; an ejector being slidably mounted to the frame portion for movement between a locking position and a release position, wherein movement toward the release position causes an opening force to be applied to the latch in order to move the latch from the second position towards the first position, wherein movement of the ejector towards the release position is caused by movement of a release button movably mounted to the seat belt buckle; an inertia locking device rotatably mounted to the release button for movement between a blocking position and an unblocking position, the inertia locking device being configured for rotation in a plane substantially parallel to a plane of movement of the latch, wherein a portion of the inertia locking device makes contact with the frame and prevents movement of the release button when the inertia locking device is in the blocking position; and a pair of springs integrally formed with the release button, the pair of springs being configured to provide a biasing force to the inertia locking device.

A seat belt buckle for use with a tongue of a seat belt includes a latch that engages the tongue, and a release bar that releases the latch. An inertia locking device mounted to a frame portion is normally biased in an unlocking position and rotates to a locking position to prevent movement of the release bar into the release position when the seat belt buckle is subjected to a force greater than the biasing force.

A tension sensing assembly for a seat restraint system in a vehicle is provided. The tension sensing assembly comprises an anchor, a movable mechanism configured to be secured to a portion of a buckle, at least one magnet coupled to the movable mechanism, a Hall effect sensor coupled to the anchor, at least one tension spring secured to the anchor at a first end and the movable mechanism at a second end. The movable mechanism moves the at least one magnet relative to the Hall effect sensor to induce an output from the Hall effect sensor. The output indicates a tension level being applied to the tension sensing assembly.

A seat belt device for adjusting the tension of a seat belt webbing drawn across a user's body when the seat belt is in a latched condition, the seat belt device comprising: a housing defining a receiving area configured to slidably receive the seat belt webbing therethrough; a clamp member slidably mounted to the housing, the clamp member being configured for movement between a first position and a second position, wherein a clamping surface of the clamp member urges a portion of the seat belt webbing against an engagement portion of the housing when the clamp member is in the first position, the engagement portion being included in the receiving area; and a biasing member being configured to urge the clamp surface toward the engagement portion.

A tension sensing assembly for a seat restraint system in a vehicle includes a rigid frame of a seat restraint buckle of the seat restraint system. The tension sensing assembly also includes a movable member operatively supported by the rigid frame and adapted to be connected to vehicle structure. The movable member is movable relative to the rigid frame. The tension sensing assembly includes a strain member operatively supported by the moveable member and the rigid frame. The tension sensing assembly further includes a strain gage sensor operatively supported by the strain member to indicate a tension level in the seat restraint system when the strain member is displaced by the movable member.

A seat restraint tensioner for a seat restraint system in a vehicle includes a cable having a first end and a second end. The first end is operatively connected to a seat restraint of the seat restraint system. The seat restraint tensioner also includes a movable mechanism connected to the second end of the cable to apply a force for tightening the seat restraint when activated. The seat restraint tensioner further includes a rotatable cam cooperating with the cable to generate a clamping force toward the seat restraint to clamp the cable between the cam and a clamping surface to prevent reverse travel of the cable after tightening the seat restraint.

A load limiting seat restraint retractor for a seat restraint system in a vehicle includes a housing for operative connection to vehicle structure. The load limiting seat restraint retractor also includes a take-up spool operatively connected to the housing and connected to webbing of a seat restraint system for winding and unwinding the webbing. The load limiting seat restraint retractor also includes a rotatable torsion bar operatively connected to the housing to provide a constant load limiting on the webbing during an impact. The take-up spool is mounted on the torsion bar. The load limiting seat restraint retractor includes a locking mechanism operatively connected to the torsion bar and the housing. The load limiting seat restraint retractor further includes a load limiting device disposed between the locking mechanism and the take-up spool to deform the take-up spool to provide digressive load limiting on the webbing during the impact.

A seat restraint buckle assembly for a seat restraint system in a vehicle includes a rigid frame having an open forward end defining a passage to receive a latch plate. The seat restraint buckle assembly also includes a locking member operatively connected to the frame and pivotal between a latched position in which the locking member retains the latch plate within the passage and an unlatched position in which the locking member is held clear of the passage. The seat restraint buckle assembly includes a release button slidably mounted on the frame above the passage for longitudinal movement relative to the frame. The seat restraint buckle assembly further includes a blocking lever operatively connected to the frame and pivotal to contact the locking member and urging the locking member towards the latched position. The seat restraint buckle assembly also includes a spring disposed between the blocking lever and the release button to rotate the blocking lever to lock-up the locking member in the latched position.

The present invention provides an improved method for rapidly making an electrode for electrical discharge machining. According to the invention, a stereolithography process is used to make a cured resin model of the electrode and having a network of interconnected supporting members defining the shape of the electrode and leaving channels between the supporting members to drain away uncured resin from the model. After the model is fully cured and the uncured resin drained away, a slurry mixture of graphite and resin is infiltrated into the voids of the model. The resin is then heat cured so that the resin is burned away leaving the electrode of pure carbon. Alternatively, the graphite and resin mixture can be cured sufficiently to harden and then an electrically conductive metalized coating is applied on the outer surface.

Method for making an electrode for electrical discharge machining by use

A door latch has a control lever operable between an unlocked position permitting normal unlatching of the latch and a locking position preventing unlatching of the latch. A locking lever is pivoted on a housing and operably connected with the lock control lever so that pivoting of the locking lever will operate the lock control lever. The locking lever has a slot receiving a pin carried by a pin control link. An inside lever is pivoted on the housing and operably connected with the inside locking button so that operation of the inside locking button pivots the inside lever. The inside lever has an L-shaped slot, which overlies an elongate slot of the locking lever. A drive pin carried by a control link is captured within the slots. The control link is mounted on a rack which is motor operated. In an extended position of the rack, the control link establishes the drive pin at a position within the slots connecting the locking lever and inside lever for rotation so that movement of the inside lock button between the lock and unlock positions will pivot the inside lever and the locking lever to operate the lock control lever. When the rack is extended by actuating the motor, the control link moves the pin to align with a bypass pocket of the L-shaped slot so that the locking lever remains at rest during movement of the inside lever by the inside locking button.

The luggage storage box is mounted within the automobile luggage compartment by first and second laterally spaced apart slide tracks which are positioned respectively on opposite sides of a spare tire storage recess in the floor of the luggage compartment. The storage box includes a floor with an opening therein to allow access to the spare tire storage recess. An access panel is hingedly mounted to the box to normally close the opening in the floor panel and can be selectively raised to an open position to permit unobstructed access to the spare tire storage recess without requiring removal of the storage box from the vehicle luggage compartment.

A structural prototype of the component part is made by first creating a model of the part which is of cured resin and has a network of interconnected supporting members defining the shape of the part and leaving channels between the supporting members to drain away uncured resin from the model. A hardenable structural material is infiltrated into the channels of the model and cured so that the resin model has become reinforced to provide a structural model of the component part. The hardenable structural material may be a mixture of powdered graphite and resin which is cured by heat. The heat may be sufficient to both cure the hardenable structure material and burn away the cured resin of the model so that the component part is then comprised of the hardened structural material having a network of channels therein where the cured resin of the model has been burned away. The model can then be further strengthened by filling the network of channels with a suitable hardenable material. The method can also be used to make a mold to be used in making a molded component.

Rapid making of a prototype part or mold using stereolithography model

A gas injector having a retractable nozzle with linear gas feed passage therethrough for a gas assist plastics injection molding machine. The injector interfaces with the injection molding tool and has a nozzle with a tip that, in a forward position, protrudes through a port therein leading into the tool cavity or a runner system leading into the cavity for gas injection during molding. The nozzle tip is connected by a nozzle body to a base that is operatively mounted in an actuator housing. The base is connected to an in-line gas routing extension of the nozzle that projects through the outer cover of the housing. The extension is coaxial with an internal spring that seats on the base and holds the nozzle tip in a gas injection position resisting the force of plastics injection pressure. The base connected nozzle is retracted by combined flux fields of an electromagnet and a permanent magnet mounted within the housing while compressively loading the spring enhancing gas release from the cavity tool separation and subsequent ejection of molded part. The electromagnet is then deenergized since the permanent magnet has a sufficient magnetic force field to, hold the base and the attached nozzle in the retracted position. For return to the gas injection position, the electromagnet is again energized but with the current supplied thereto reversed so flux field of the electromagnet is reversed to negate flux field of the permanent magnet allowing the spring to return the nozzle to the forward position.
