A method of making an acid neutralizing polymer includes: a) preparing a first reaction mixture by blending of a polyamide material, a solid strongly basic material, and a halogenated-dimethylalkylamine; b) adding the first reaction mixture to a first compounding machine; c) reacting the first reaction mixture for a time and at a temperature sufficient to produce a first reaction product; d) preparing a second reaction mixture including the polyamide material; e) adding the second reaction mixture to a second compounding machine; f) reacting the second reaction mixture for a time and at a temperature sufficient to produce a second reaction product; g) preparing a third reaction mixture by blending the first reaction mixture and the second reaction mixture; h) adding the third reaction mixture to a third compounding machine; and i) reacting the third reaction mixture for a time and at a temperature sufficient to produce the acid neutralizing polymer.

Method of making an acid neutralizing polymer through reactive compounding

Grafted polyethylene polymers and copolymers are reactively extruded to achieve enhanced rheological properties. The utilization of an oligomeric or polymeric wax in the reactive extrusion process with functionalized agents, results in improved rheological characteristics of the grafted polymer.

Halogen-free polymer composite materials, which are commonly for use in sheathing and insulation applications for wire and cable, are provided. In some instances, the polymeric blend may include an olefin/unsaturated ester copolymer.

Wire sheathing and insulation compositions

Polymer composites, which are commonly for use as sheathing materials in wire and cable applications, are provided. The sheathing materials exhibit flame retardant properties and include a polymeric blend, which includes olefin/unsaturated ester copolymer and olefin (co)polymer, a hydrated metal oxide flame-retardant, such as magnesium hydroxide, and an antimony compound.

A method of reinforcing a structural support, includes applying a reinforcement system comprising an AR-glass fibrous layer embedded in an inorganic matrix to the structural support. The AR-glass fibrous layer has a sizing applied thereon, and a resinous coating applied is applied over the sizing. The inorganic matrix is adherent to the resinous coating and the resinous coating is adherent to the sizing.

Drywall tapes, drywall joints and methods for their construction are provided by this invention. The drywall tape of this invention includes a web of glass fibers and a coating disposed over a portion of the glass fibers. The coating includes a resinous binder which is at least partially soluble or dispersible in joint compound. The resinous binder is capable of forming an adhesive bond with the joint compound when set.
