A multichannel color measurement instrument for measuring spectral properties of a target comprises pick-up optics to collect measurement light, first and second anamorphic optical paths optically coupled to the pick up optics, a pick-up polarizing element located to polarize measurement light in the second anamorphic optical path, a reference anamorphic optical path including a reference illumination source, and a two-dimensional variable filter sensor having an optically transmissive filter function that varies in a first direction parallel to a surface of the variable filter sensor and is substantially constant in a second direction parallel to a surface of the variable filter sensor and orthogonal to the first direction. The anamorphic optical paths spread the measurement light in the first direction direct it on to different portions of the variable filter sensor.

A process for in-line laminating a heavy-gauge transparent polymer sheet with a pre-pre-formed polymer film to produce a laminated polymer sheet. The pre-formed polymer film can impart one or more aesthetic or functional elements to the heavy-gauge polymer sheet. The resulting laminate can have equivalent, or enhanced, properties as compared to conventionally-prepared laminates and can be formed into a variety of articles with multiple end uses.

The present disclosure relates to polymer coating compositions that comprise at least one thermoplastic resin, at least one opacity modifier, at least one gloss modifier, and at least one impact modifier, articles at least partially coated with the polymer coating composition, paintable polymer coated articles and method for making the polymer coated and painted polymer coated articles. These compositions exhibit enhanced paintability (including paintability with water-based paints) and mechanical properties for fabrication (cutting, nailing, routing, etc.), while maintaining acceptable visual appearance, such as, for example, opacity, gloss, surface appearance, and surface roughness.

Thermoplastic formulations for enhanced paintability, toughness and melt processability

Disclosed are polyester blends that provide improved stress whitening behavior. The blends may be prepared from a polyester having crystallization half-time of at least 5 minutes and a polyester elastomer. The polyesters blends may be extruded or, in the presence of a release additive, calendered to produce film or sheet. Also disclosed are processes for making a film or sheet by extrusion or calendering the above blends and the film or sheet produced therefrom. The polyester blend and the film or sheet produced therefrom also may include plasticizers and/or flame retardants to increase their flexibility and enable their use in commercial applications requiring flame resistance. The film and sheet have excellent appearance and can be used in a wide range of decorative and packaging applications.

Polyeste blends with improved stress whitening for film and sheet applications

Disclosed are polymer compositions comprising: (A) a first component comprising about 1 to 99 percent by weight at least one polyester (A) comprising: (1) diacid residues selected from the group consisting of terephthalic acid residues, isophthalic acid residues and mixtures thereof, and (2) diol residues selected from the group consisting of 1,4 -cyclohexanedimethanol residues, ethylene glycol residues and mixtures thereof; wherein the molar ratio of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol to ethylene glycol is less than 0.50; (B) a second component comprising about 99 to 1 percent by weight of a miscible blend of: (1) at least one polycarbonate (B) of bisphenol A (2) at least one polyester (C) comprising (a) diacid residues selected from the group consisting of terephthalic acid residues, isophthalic acid residues and mixture thereof, and (b) diol residues selected from the group consisting of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol residues, ethylene glycol residues, and mixtures thereof; wherein the molar ratio of 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol to ethylene glycol is 0.50 or greater; and, wherein the total weight percent for the first component and for the second component is equal to 100 weight percent; and wherein the total weight percent for the second component of polycarbonate (B) and polyester (C) is equal to 100 weight percent; and wherein the first component and second component have refractive indices which differ in absolute value by 0.008 or less; and wherein the total mole percent of the diacid residues of each of polyesters (A) and polyester (C) individually is equal to 100 mole percent; and wherein the total mole percent of the diol residues of each of polyesters (A) and polyester (C) individually is equal to 100 mole percent.

Polyester-polycarbonate compositions

Coated articles having improved chemical resistance comprising an article formed from a moldable polymer coated on at least one surface with a coating composition comprising at least one vinyl ether oligomer compound, and at least one photoinitiator are disclosed. Coatings which also contain at least one acrylate compound and/or at least one epoxy compound are also disclosed. The articles are preferably made from polyesters. Methods for coating such articles are also disclosed.
