A system and method for predicting acoustic loads expected on a boiling water reactor (BWR) may include a BWR scale model, a test fixture for generating air flow in the scale model, and one or measurement devices for monitoring system behavior to predict how acoustic loads may affect plant operation for the BWR being evaluated.

The housing includes a first side wall and an opposing second side wall, and a first end wall and an opposing second end wall. Methods and apparatus for detecting cracks in welds

The calibration device includes a guide surface and an angle gauge supported relative to the guide surface on a first side of the guide surface. The angle gauge is adjustable to measure a skew angle of the ultrasonic transducer on the guide surface. The angle gauge is slidable along a length of the guide surface. The angle gauge is rotatably supported parallel to the guide surface. A gauge block rotatably supports the angle gauge.

Phased array ultrasonic reference block

A method and apparatus is provided for inspecting a series of obstructed welds, such as those used in attaching the jet pump diffuser to a baffle plate using a jet pump adapter within a boiling water nuclear reactor (BWR). The apparatus comprises a support, a frame with holding mechanisms, a connector, a carrier and a sensor assembly and the method can comprise positioning the apparatus so that it partially surrounds the jet pump near the baffle plate attachment region and is temporarily held in place. The sensor assembly then positions a sensor adjacent an area of interest and the carrier is rotated along the frame to scan the sensor along the surface being inspected to acquire data regarding the quality or nature of the material, such as the quality of a weld.
