A microstrip patch or slot radiating element is coupled to a dielectric rod antenna by way of a tapered tubular dielectric guide formed integrally with the rod. An array of radiating elements may be formed on a common substrate, and the dielectric guide/rod antennae may be arranged to direct the energy radiated from these elements to a secondary antenna element such as a lens or a dish.

In a video signal distribution system in which a plurality of video signals are modulated onto individual carrier signals spaced over a band of frequencies to form a composite signal for transmission over cables of the system, a point-to-point radio link forming part of the distribution system is provided in which the composite signal is transmitted as double side band phase modulation of a single microwave carrier signal.

A polarizer arrangement in accordance with the invention includes a circular depolarizer combined in a common component with a linear polarizer. The depolarizer material includes a recess within which a ferrite rod is located, a bias coil being wound around the polarizer and the rod. In another arrangement, a polyrod waveguide feed is also included in the component, being integrated with the circular depolarizer and the linear polarizer.
