A bioreactor control system comprises a batch server for controlling a bioreactor system in response to a recipe, a batch software system for generating a control sequence for the bioreactor system via the batch server for implementing the recipe, and a recipe conversion system that inputs the recipe into the batch software system. Preferably, the recipe conversion system reads a word processor file containing the recipe and interprets styles applied to text in the word processor file as indicating equipment and phases of the recipe to the recipe conversion system. Generally, the bioreactor system includes one or more bioreactors and additional hardware to perform the upstream and downstream processing. The document properties of the word processor file containing the recipe are applied as header information for the recipe input into the batch software system. This system solves a problem associated with traditional batching software systems, in which the authoring of recipes on the systems can be relatively arcane. Here, the recipe can be authored on a common word processor.

A method for forming metal nanoparticles on halloysite nanotubes. The method provides a water-based suspension solution containing about 0.002% to about 0.1% by weight of halloysite nanotubes. The suspension solution is maintained between about 2&#xb0; C. and about 98&#xb0; C. and under sufficient mixing that the nanotubes are maintained in substantially constant suspension. At least one positive and at least one negative metal electrode is positioned in the suspension solution, wherein the metal electrodes are at least 98% pure metal. A voltage is maintained across the electrodes of between about 10 and about 300 volts for a time sufficient to form metal ions on at least about 10% of a surface of the halloysite nanotubes.

An augmented ceramic composite including aluminosilicate nanotubes may be added to a biocompatible polymer matrix. Aluminosilicate nanotubes have a surprisingly high biocompatibility, radio opaqueness, and suitability for storing therapeutic compounds for release over time. These surprising advantages make aluminosilicate nanotubes, such as halloysite nanotubes, a good candidate for use in various medical applications from bone and dental prosthetics to cancer treatment and prevention. Furthermore, unlike other additives, the addition of certain quantities of halloysite nanotubes increases the strength of the polymer matrix to which it is added.

A copy of data (e.g., messages) sent to a datastore for storage is stored at an alternate location until a received signal indicates that the storage and replication was successful. As soon as the feedback signal is received, the copy is removed from the alternate location, and hence, improves input/output (I/O) and storage patterns. The feedback mechanism can also be used for monitoring the status of data transport associated with log shipping, for example, and taking the appropriate actions when storage (e.g., replication) is not being performed properly.

Embodiments of an event-driven process management and automation system are disclosed. Such system may be particularly appropriate for a multi-tenant environment so that a single process handling flow may be generated for a given process. Because in a multi-tenant environment many different entities may desire to customize or optimize this process handling flow for their particular usage, modifications to the process flow may be easily handled by a non-technical user to realize process modification without incurring additional development costs. Using a multi-level hierarchical inheritance model in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention, a process may be standardized, with focused customization available on a macro and/or micro level.

The present invention provides an apparatus and method of orienting perforating gun strings conveyed on a tool string. One embodiment of the present invention provides an orienting weight provided in a portion of the perforating device, such as the shaped charge, the loading tube or the gun housing. An adapter is provided intermediate the tool string that facilitates conveyance of the gun string downhole. Additionally, the adapter enables the gun string to rotate independent of the tool string.
