The invention relates to a sintering furnace for components consisting of sintering material, especially dental components and in particular components consisting of ceramic, and a method for sintering such components. The sintering furnacecomprises a heatable furnace chamberfor the componentto be sintered, the furnace chamberhaving a wall sectionto be opened for inserting the componentto be sintered into the furnace chamber. Drive meansare provided for mechanized opening and closing of the wall section, and a controlis provided for the drive meansthat has an actuation elementfor the drive means. Furthermore, a heating devicefor the furnace chamberis provided, and the controlcauses the furnace chamberto be heated. Actuating the control elementtriggers the loading sequence of the control, and the drive meansare automatically actuated by the controlcorresponding to the loading sequence.
