An approach is provided for providing a wireless data connection to a vehicle. In some aspects, the approach includes receiving vehicle cluster information that is based at least in part on location information of each vehicle in a vehicle cluster traveling on a road link. The approach also includes determining one or more parameters for at least one antenna beam based on the vehicle cluster information, wherein the at least one antenna beam is configured to sufficiently cover the vehicle cluster. The approach further includes controlling the at least one antenna beam to track the vehicle cluster along the road link.

Method, apparatus, and system for providing a wireless data connection to a vehicle

Provided herein is a method of generating low bandwidth map format agnostic routes between origins and destinations for route communication between different map formats or versions using reduced bandwidth. Methods may include: receiving an indication of a route request between an origin and a destination; generating a route between the origin starting road segment and the destination target road segment, the route including a plurality of road segments; identifying one or more intermediate segments from the plurality of road segments, each intermediate segment having an anchor point; generating a plurality of route fragments from the route; encoding each route fragment by applying an XOR algorithm to identifiers of route fragment road segments of a respective route fragment; and providing the encoded route fragments and one or more anchor points of the one or more intermediate segments in response to the route request.

Method, apparatus, and computer program product for generating and communicating low bandwidth map version agnostic routes

An approach is provided for building single-path communication signal map data for road links. The approach involves, for example, using, by one or more processors, map data and/or vehicle sensor data to make a determination that one or more single-path communication signals are detectable on a particular road link or on one or more portions of the particular road link. The approach also involves, based on the determination, generating or storing, by the one or more processors, a road-link map attribute indicating that one or more single-path communication signals are detectable on the particular road link or on the one or more portions. The approach further involves, based at least on the road-link map attribute, providing, by the one or more processors, coverage information indicating that one or more single-path communication signals are detectable on the particular road link or on the one or more portions.

Method, apparatus, and system for building single-path communication signal map data for road links

Provided herein is a method of generating low bandwidth map format agnostic routes between origins and destinations for route communication between different map formats or versions using reduced bandwidth. Methods may include: receiving one or more intermediate segment anchor points and encoded server-provided route fragments for a requested route between an origin and a destination; identifying one or more intermediate segments corresponding to the one or more intermediate segment anchor points; generating a route between the origin and the destination, the route including the one or more intermediate segments and a plurality of client-generated route fragments; encoding each client-generated route fragment by application of an XOR algorithm to the client-generated route fragment road segments; comparing the encoded client-generated route fragments to the encoded server-provided route fragments; and providing navigational assistance for traveling along the route in response to the encoded client-generated route fragments corresponding with the encoded server-provided route fragments.

A device with transmitter broadcasts packets including a transmitter identifier via a radio interface with varying timings of transmissions. It determines a current timing of transmissions based on clock signals and a secret code, using a cryptographic function. A mobile device detects radio signals conveying such packets and performs measurements on the signals. It determines a currently used timing of transmissions, assembles a positioning request including the transmitter identifier, results of the measurements and an indication of the timing of transmissions, and transmits the request. A server receives the request. It generates for the transmitter an expected timing of transmissions using a cryptographic function, based on a signal of a master clock and based on a stored secret code assigned to the transmitter. It provides position information as trusted position information only in the case of a match between the indicated and the expected timing of transmissions.
