A multiwalled container made of corrugated paper board and formed from an open ended sleeve of such multiwalled container board is provided with an end closure that is discreet from the sleeve but is connected thereto via flaps connected to the outer surface of the walls of the sleeve. The closure includes at least one panel connected to the sleeve by the flaps and providing a bridging member extending across the open end of the sleeve and functioning to resist outward deflection of the side walls of the sleeve via tension in the bridging member when said container is erected and foldable into the interior of said sleeve when said container is in knock down condition.

End closure for a multi-walled container

A multi-layered flat walled bulk storage bin or container is disclosed. The container has crushed corners and at least two opposing bevelled corners which enable the container to be folded flat with no spring back in the folded position. The container comprises a multi-layered sleeve having at least four flat sides with corners between adjacent sides, the sleeve having compressible sheet layers, preferably corrugated board layers, with crushed corners and at least two opposing corners being bevelled corners to allow the sleeve to be collapsed so fully closed corners have adjacent sides substantially parallel without additional force applied.

Multi-layered container

A method and an apparatus is disclosed for forming a multi-layered container of compressible sheet layers, such as corrugated board. The containers are formed in a single operation and avoids the known techniques of folding the layers before laminating in multistep methods. Furthermore, the container may be folded without the layers separating. The method of forming a multi-layered container having a plurality of flat sides with corners between adjacent sides comprises winding compressible sheet layers on a forming mandrel. In the process, one edge of a layer is attached adjacent to a corner of a mandrel, a shoe plate applies pressure to the layer against the mandrel as it rotates to maintain a substantially constant pressure and tension on the layer. An additional momentary force is applied to the shoe plate as each corner of the mandrel passes over the shoe plate such that the layer at each corner is compressed.
