A system that includes a driving component, such as a motor, and a driven component. The system also includes a torque limiter positioned between the driving component and the driven component. The driving component is coupled to a driving end of the torque limiter and the driven component is coupled to a driven end of the torque limiter. The torque limiter is configured to assume a normal operating state with no slippage between the driving and driven ends of the torque limiter and an over-torque operating state with slippage occurring between the driving and driven ends of the torque limiter. The torque limiter includes a metal moving part that assumes a first position when the torque limiter is in the normal operating state and a second position different than the first position when the torque limiter assumes the over-torque operating state. An inductive proximity sensor monitors the position of the metal moving part.

Torque overload detection and control systems

A quick release bow clamp comprising a hinged circular body having a vehicle mating flange and a nose cone mating flange configured to selectively attach to an access plate on the bow of an underwater vehicle and a nose cone for the same, respectively. The flanges of the bow clamp and the corresponding flanges of the access plate and nose cone may include an intermittent pattern of open and solid portions for weight reduction. The bow clamp may also include a quick release clamp having an adjustable draw latch configured to attach to a clip on the body of the bow clamp and a safety latch configured to prevent the draw latch from inadvertently disengaging with the clip.

Bow clamp

A tool-less joiner clamp includes a hinged circular body having a forward mating flange and an aft mating flange configured to selectively attach to a forward section flange and an aft section flange of an underwater vehicle, respectively. The forward mating flange has a threaded inner diameter configured to integrate with a threaded outer diameter of the forward section flange, such that rotating the joiner clamp about the forward section flange causes the clamp to move in an axial direction. Also included is a cam lock for selectively closing and tightening the tool-less joiner clamp onto the forward and aft section flanges of the vehicle and may include a quick release mechanism for opening the cam lock. The clamp may also include collapsible handles, and multiple buttons configured to press against a flat surface of the aft mating flange when the joiner clamp is rotated about the forward section flange.

Tool-less joiner clamp

An unmanned undersea vehicle including a magnetic coupler drive. The magnetic coupler drive is incorporated into a hull section, such as a tail section of the unmanned undersea vehicle. The magnetic coupler drive includes a motor shaft magnet, a titanium housing disposed about the motor shaft magnet, and a propeller shaft magnet magnetically coupled to the motor shaft magnet, but physically separated from the propeller shaft magnet by the titanium housing.
