A heater unit for a respiratory system is designed for natural convection cooling air to pass first through a transformer in the heater unit and then through a heat sink in the heater unit to which is mounted a power switch to conduct heat from the power switch to the cooling air passing through the heat sink. A thermal break may be provided between the heat sink and the transformer. The transformer may be a toroidal transformer with the air passing through an aperture thereof such as from a hollow projection of the heater unit extending into the aperture. One side of the transformer may be situated along a surface of the heater unit and the heat sink secured to the heater unit against the opposite side of the transformer to hold the transformer in place. A venting chamber may be associated with an air exhaust of the heater unit to provide a circuitous exit path for air exiting the heater unit. The venting chamber may extend in generally surrounding relationship with the heater of the heater unit.

A heater unit for a respiratory system includes a hot plate heater including a heat conducting hot plate and a plastic hub mounted together. The hot plate may define a thin heat conducting disc and may further define a depending flange circumferentially surrounding the hub. The hub and flange may include snap-together apertures and fingers. The hub is mounted to a housing of the heater unit.

A medical lancing device including a replaceable multi-lancet cartridge. The lancing device includes a drive mechanism, an activation mechanism, and an advancing mechanism. The advancing mechanism includes a linear-pull slide that is moved in and out to operate an indexing ratchet mechanism, a cam-guided charger mechanism, and a cam-guided lancet cap displacement mechanism. The indexing ratchet mechanism sequentially advances the lancets in the cartridge to an active position. The cam-guided charger mechanism charges the drive mechanism and separates the cap from the active lancet. And the cam-guided cap displacement mechanism moves the separated cap from the lancing stroke path of the active lancet. The activation mechanism then releases the charged active lancet to traverse the unobstructed lancing stroke path to pierce the subject's skin at a desired lancing site.

A dispensing unit for a hot melt adhesive system has a manifold centrally located within the dispensing unit to permit commonality between heated hoses of substantially the same length used to supply adhesive guns at either side of the dispensing unit. The dispensing unit also includes a manifold that is thermally isolated from the adhesive tank. The manifold has a heater that is independent of the tank heater for more precise temperature control of adhesive flowing through the manifold. A pump coupled to the manifold is located external to the tank and is heated by the manifold heater.

An apparatus for melting and dispensing thermoplastic materials such as thermoplastic adhesives referred to as &ldquo;hot melt&rdquo; adhesives. More specifically, a one-piece melter tank is suspended from the top of a chassis which also serves as the housing for the entire assembly of the melting and dispensing apparatus.

A dual acting pump for dispensing pressurized liquids including a pump housing, a reciprocating pump shaft contained in a pumping chamber and at least one spring-biased check valve member. In the preferred embodiment, a spring-biased check valve member is connected to one end of the pump shaft for closing a flow passage in the pump shaft during movement in one direction and for opening the flow passage during movement in the opposite direction. Similar spring-biased check valves are connected to the pump inlet and pump outlet. The check valves comprise hollow balls and, in combination with the springs, this assures that liquid output from the pump is not reduced significantly when the pump shaft changes direction.

An apparatus for melting and dispensing thermoplastic materials such as thermoplastic adhesives referred to as 'hot melt' adhesives. More specifically this invention relates to a one piece melter tank which is suspended from the top of a chassis which also serves as the housing for the entire assembly of the melting and dispensing apparatus.

A device for relieving the pressure of pressurized materials, such as sprayable hot melt adhesives includes a storage tank (40), a manifold (44), a source of pressure for pressurizing the pressurized materials, and a dump valve (10) for relieving the pressure of the pressurized materials when the device is deactivated or turned off. The dump valve (10) includes a relief port (22) and a spring and compressed air arrangement for opening and closing the relief port (22). The dump valve (10) can be combined with a pressure relief valve and can be retrofitted to existing manifolds (44). A method of depressurizing a pressurized device for spraying pressurized material is also disclosed and includes the steps of activating a pressure means for pressurizing materials within a manifold, pressurizing the materials via the pressure means, deactivating the pressure means, and relieving the pressure of the materials when the pressurizing means is deactivated.
