Treatments and compounds can be useful in subterranean formations where particulates and/or surfaces may be subject to silica scale build-up. Certain embodiments pertain to utilizing silica scale control additives with particulate packs. Of these, certain methods may treat particulate packs in a subterranean formation with silica scale control additives, certain methods may combine silica scale control additives with particulates prior to formation of a particulate pack, and certain compounds may provide the features of both silica scale control additives and particulates.

Additives to suppress silica scale build-up

Methods for remediating a subterranean formation can comprise: introducing a first remedial fluid into a first portion of a subterranean formation, wherein the first remedial fluid comprises a base fluid and a viscosifying agent; and allowing the first remedial fluid to divert at least a portion of a second remedial fluid that comprises an oxidizer to a second portion of the subterranean formation; wherein the viscosifying agent comprises at least one viscosifying agent selected from the group consisting of a gelling agent, an emulsifier, or a gas in combination with a foaming agent; and wherein the gelling agent, if present, comprises at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of xanthan, diutans, wellans, succinoglycan, clarified biopolymers, scleroglycan, combinations thereof, and derivatives thereof.

Viscosified fluids for remediating subterranean damage

Methods comprising: providing an aqueous treatment fluid comprising an aqueous fluid, a friction reducing polymer, and an antiflocculation additive; and introducing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation. Methods of fracturing a subterranean formation comprising: providing an aqueous treatment fluid comprising an aqueous fluid, a friction reducing polymer, and an antiflocculation additive; and introducing the treatment fluid into a well bore penetrating the subterranean formation at rate in the range of from about 30 barrels to about 250 barrels per minute so as to create or enhance one or more fractures in the subterranean formation. Aqueous treatment fluids comprising: an aqueous fluid, a friction reducing polymer in an amount sufficient to reduce friction without forming a gel, and an antiflocculation additive.

Treatment fluids comprising friction reducers and antiflocculation additives and associated methods

Subterranean treatment fluids comprising one or more organic acids and methods of use in subterranean operations are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise: providing a treatment fluid that comprises an aqueous base fluid, a plurality of particulates, a gelling agent, and one or more organic acids; introducing the treatment fluid into at least a portion of a subterranean formation; and depositing at least a portion of the particulates in a portion of the subterranean formation so as to form a gravel pack in a portion of the subterranean formation.

Organic acid compositions and methods of use in subterranean operations

Subterranean treatment fluids comprising one or more organic acids and methods of use in subterranean operations are provided. In one embodiment, the methods comprise: providing a treatment fluid that comprises an aqueous base fluid, a gelling agent, and one or more organic acids; and contacting a subterranean formation with the treatment fluid at or above a pressure sufficient to create or enhance one or more fractures in a portion of the subterranean formation.

Among many things, compositions and methods relating to the prevention and remediation of surfactant gel damage are provided. In one embodiment, the method includes providing a treatment fluid comprising a carrier fluid; at least one component selected from the group consisting of a chelating agent and a scale control agent; at least one component selected from the group consisting of an alcohol, a glycol, a pH modifier, a hydrocarbon, a mutual solvent, an oxidizer, a reducer, an enzyme, a transition metal, a combination thereof, and a derivative thereof; and at least one component selected from the group consisting of a nonemulsifier, a demulsifier, a combination thereof, and a derivative thereof, and introducing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation.

Composition and method relating to the prevention and remediation of surfactant gel damage

Among many things, compositions and methods relating to the prevention and remediation of surfactant gel damage are provided. In one embodiment, the method includes providing a treatment fluid comprising a carrier fluid and at least one component selected from the group consisting of a chelating agent and a scale control agent, and introducing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation that has been treated with a viscoelastic surfactant fluid.

Methods comprising providing a treatment fluid that comprises using an aqueous base fluid, a synthetic cationic gelling agent, a plurality of particulates, and an organic acid. The treatment fluid is then introduced into at least a portion of a subterranean formation having a temperature of above about 275&#xb0; F. wherein the particulates are deposited into the subterranean and the treatment fluid form at least one void in the subterranean formation itself. The viscosity of the treatment fluid in the subterranean formation is greater than about 20 cP for at least 20 minutes at temperatures higher than about 275&#xb0; F.

Of the many methods and compositions provided herein, one method includes a method comprising introducing a viscosified remedial fluid comprising a base fluid, a viscosifying agent, and an oxidizer into at least a portion of a subterranean formation having damage present therein so as to contact the damage with the viscosified remedial fluid; and allowing the viscosified remedial fluid to at least partially remediate the damage present in the subterranean formation. Another method provided herein includes introducing a viscosified remedial fluid comprising a base fluid, a first viscosifying agent, and an oxidizer into at least a portion of a subterranean formation before a treatment fluid comprising a second viscosifying agent is introduced therein, wherein the oxidizer is available to remediate damage in the subterranean formation.

Methods including the steps of selecting a target fracture geometry for a portion of a subterranean formation; selecting a target tip pressure and a target back flow pressure based at least in part on a calculation for the target fracture geometry; selecting a target surface pressure and a target bottom-hole pressure based at least in part on a calculation for the target tip pressure and the target back flow pressure; and introducing a slurry fluid comprising proppant particulates into one or more fractures in the portion of the subterranean formation. The surface pressure corresponds to the target surface pressure, and bottom-hole pressure corresponds to the target bottom-hole pressure.

Methods of fluid-controlled geometry stimulation

Methods for setting particulate plugs in at least partially horizontal sections of well bores are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method comprises the step of selecting a deposition location for a particulate plug within the at least partially horizontal section of the well bore. The method further comprises the step of providing a pumping conduit capable of delivering slurries to the deposition location. The method further comprises the step of pumping a first slurry through the pumping conduit to the deposition location such that a velocity of the first slurry in the well bore at the deposition location is less than or equal to the critical velocity of the first slurry in the well bore at the deposition location.

Methods of setting particulate plugs in horizontal well bores using low-rate slurries

Provided are methods that include a method comprising: placing a clean fluid comprising proppant particulates into a portion of a fracture in a subterranean formation, and depositing one or more of the proppant particulates into the fracture to form a partial monolayer. In another aspect, the invention provides methods that include placing a degradable fluid loss additive comprising collagen into a subterranean formation.

Some of the methods provided comprise the steps of: providing an aqueous treatment fluid that comprises a polysaccharide and a dual functional component, the aqueous treatment fluid having a first viscosity; allowing the dual functional component to interact with the polysaccharide such that the viscosity of the aqueous treatment fluid increases to a second viscosity, the second viscosity being greater than the first viscosity; placing the aqueous treatment fluid into a subterranean formation; and allowing the dual functional component to interact with the polysaccharide so as to reduce the second viscosity of the aqueous treatment fluid to a third viscosity, the third viscosity being less than the second viscosity.

Methods of acidizing subterranean formations or well bores, and more specifically, to acidizing systems involving acid-generating fluids that comprise acid-generating compounds and associated methods are provided. An example of a method of the present invention comprises: providing an acid-generating fluid that comprises an acid-generating compound; placing the acid-generating fluid into a well bore penetrating a subterranean formation; and allowing the acid-generating compound to produce an acid that then acidizes at least a portion of the subterranean formation or damage contained in the formation or well bore.
