Technologies are described herein for persisting advertisement data on a computing device and tracking consumer access to the advertisement data. A web-based advertisement viewed by a consumer on a consumer computing device contains a hyperlink or clickable control allowing the consumer to request advertisement data regarding a product or service offered in the ad. If the consumer clicks the hyperlink or control, a data object containing the advertisement data is delivered to the consumer computing device for storage on the device as a contact. Access to the contact containing the advertisement data by the consumer computing device may be tracked as well as access to a landing page referenced in the stored contact.

Persisting advertisement data on a consumer device

Disclosed are various systems, methods, and other embodiments directed to detection of malware in content items. To detect the malware, for example, one or more content items are identified in association with the rendering of a network page in a simulated environment. A plurality of tests are applied to the one or more content items to detect an existence of malware associated with the content items.

Detecting malware in content items

Disclosed are various embodiments of sales security integration. At least one embodiment of a method includes the steps of receiving contact data regarding a sales contact for a network site, and performing at least one security check on the contact data to determine a likelihood that the sales contact is a security risk for nefarious activity. In response to determining that the sales contact is a security risk for nefarious activity, the step of implementing at least one security measure is performed.

Sales security integration

Various features are described for caching, tagging, and exchanging advertisements associated with network-accessible content. Advertisements may be retrieved and cached on mobile devices and other types of client devices prior to obtaining content containing references to advertisements. When content with an embedded reference to an advertisement is obtained, a previously retrieved advertisement can be loaded from the cache. Advertisements may also be tagged for later viewing. Users may revisit tagged advertisements at a future time, such as when wireless network connectivity is restored or when the user has more available time. Additional features facilitate bidding, by an advertisement server directly or indirectly associated with a client device, on advertising inventory associated with requested network content. In response to acceptance of the bid by a 3rd party advertising server, an advertisement from the associated advertisement server may be displayed.

Exchange and offline substitution of advertisements

A virtual sandbox environment enables a publisher to publish rules for supplemental content, such as third party advertising, displayed on a page or other grouping of content from the publisher. One or more rule sets can be applied or enforced in a number of ways, such as through active script on a page, as part of a browser or other such application or interface, or via a third party such as an anti-virus application or service. A rule set can specify behavior that is allowed or prohibited, in various circumstances, as well as actions to be taken in response to any unapproved or prohibited behavior. Rule sets may be maintained on, and enforced by, or cached on a client device such that any number of pages or other groupings of content can utilize the same rule set without reloading the set.

Virtual sandboxing for supplemental content

Feedback received from users regarding potential problems with an application, service, or other source of electronic content can be configured to include additional information that help triangulate the source of the problem. Content provided by third parties can be combined with content from a primary provider, but the primary provider often will be unable to determine the precise instance of third party content that a user received that might have posed a problem for the user, as may relate to malware or another such issue. By configuring feedback submissions from users to automatically include identifying information, and by logging session data for various users, a content provider can analyze and filter the data to determine likely sources of the problem, and deactivate or otherwise address those sources. Further, the content provider can analyze the information to locate any users likely to have been exposed to the same third party content.

Disclosed are various embodiments for providing a product comparison application utilizing crowdsourcing. A network page is rendered providing a grid comprising a plurality of products, product attributes, and/or attribute data. Additions and/or modifications of attributes, products, and/or attribute data are assigned a score to determine which addition or modification to display and/or associate with a product catalog. The grid provides a view for comparison of products.

The product placement for the dynamic location identified in the content may then be provided.

Disclosed are various embodiments for determining a source of malware. At least one embodiment of a method includes receiving browsing data from a plurality of client devices, the data being sent by the plurality of client devices, in response to a determination of malware on the plurality of client devices and determining, from the browsing data, a source for the malware. Further, some embodiments include determining whether the source for the malware is associated with a predetermined network site and in response to determining that the source of the malware is associated with a predetermined network site, preventing download of at least a portion of the predetermined network site.

Detecting malware

Disclosed are various systems, methods, and other embodiments directed to detection of malware in content items. To detect the malware, for example, an environment is simulated in a computing device configured to render a network page having a container for content placement. The existence of malware in a content item is detected in the computing device by implementing a rendering of the network page in the environment with the content item inserted in the container to detect an unauthorized action by the content item.

Techniques described and suggested herein include systems and methods for identifying potential sources of infections of devices by unauthorized code. In an embodiment, network traffic is logged. A plurality of computing devices that include unauthorized code is identified. The logged traffic is used to identify information sources accessed by the identified affected devices. The identified information sources may be refined. Refinement of the identified information sources may include excluding information sources that have been accessed by uninfected devices. A user interface that allows a user to further refine the identified information sources may be provided.

Disclosed are various embodiments for predicting a future location of a mobile user. A recent location of a mobile user is received. Past location data for the mobile user is retrieved from storage. A future location of the mobile user is predicted based at least in part on the recent location and on the past location data. The prediction is provided in response to a query or by subscription.
