An aerial vehicle securing system for use with a base portion of an aerial vehicle, comprising: at least one substantially flat platform for supporting said base portion upon landing of the vehicle thereon; at least one magnetizable element configured to be integrated in one of said platform or base portion; at least one electropermanent magnet configured to be integrated in another one of said platform or base portion, said electropermanent magnet configured for generating a magnetic field, so that upon a distance between said base portion and said platform reaching a pre-determined value during the landing of the vehicle on the platform, said magnetic field is configured to cause magnetizable element to be attracted to at least said one electropermanent magnet; and a power supply module configured for generating an electric current to said at least one electropermanent magnet for selectively generating and cancelling said magnetic field.

Aerial vehicle securing system and method

The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to devices for carrying and releasing stores from a vehicle, such as ejector racks for carrying and releasing a store with respect to an air vehicle.

Ejector rack

An add-on brake system includes a housing accommodating a linear actuator including: an electric motor having a rotor and a stator; a nut arrangement coupled to the rotor; a linear threaded plunger associated having a first end linearly protruding from one end of the arrangement and a second end linearly protruding from an opposite end thereof; an inboard brake pad coupled to the housing; and an outboard brake pad associated with the second end, oriented transverse to the plunger. The plunger has an initial unclamped position in which the second end protrudes to an extent nfrom the other end of the arrangement, yielding a spacing Sbetween the inboard and outboard brake pads, and a final clamped position in which the second end protrudes to an extent n&#x3e;nfrom the other end of the arrangement, yielding a spacing S&#x3c;Sbetween the pads.

Add-on brake system

An extendable sway brace for a rack for an airborne payload. The sway brace is extendable. A mechanism for extending the sway brace includes means for preventing extension of the sway brace when the pressure exerted by the brace on a payload reaches a predetermined pressure. The means for preventing extension of the brace may include, for example, one or more pre-loaded springs. In this case, extension of the brace is prevented when the springs are compressed by a predetermined amount. The invention also provides a rack for an airborne payload comprising a sway brace of the invention.
