The apparatus may comprise a power supply having an internal logic controlled power switch, the power supply in electrical communication with at least the pump motor, wherein the internal logic controlled power switch includes an active state (ON) and an inactive state (OFF). The apparatus may further include an overspeed detector, an under voltage detector in electrical communication with at least the power supply, the under voltage detector configured to measure a logic voltage, and a pump cartridge detector.

System, apparatus, and method for a pump motor failsafe

Provided for may be a motor speed control apparatus for use with a piston pump. The piston may be adapted to create a plurality of compressions and the piston may have a compression path and a decompression path. Further, the piston cylinder may include a proximal end, a distal end, and a piston length. The piston cylinder may have a proximal threshold position and a distal threshold position. In an embodiment, the apparatus includes a proximal and a distal hall effect sensor. The apparatus may comprise a computer, wherein instructions instruct the piston to decelerate at the distal threshold position during the compression path and the proximal threshold position during the decompression path, and/or wherein the computer executable instructions instruct the piston to accelerate at the distal threshold position during the decompression path and the proximal threshold position during the compression path.

Provided is an electromagnetic interference mitigation apparatus including a power supply; a power cord; a power supply chassis encapsulating at least the power supply, the power supply physically isolated from the power cord; a low value resistor in electrical communication with at least the power cord and the power supply; and a capacitor disposed between the power supply chassis and an equipment chassis, wherein the equipment chassis encapsulates the power supply chassis, wherein the equipment chassis is disposed a distance from the power supply chassis, and wherein the capacitor is formed by the equipment chassis and the power supply chassis.

System, apparatus, and method for electromagnetic interference mitigation

A fluid warming device may include a housing comprising a main body, a heat exchange body receiving compartment, and a cover movably coupled to the main body between an open position and a closed position; a heater assembly disposed within the main body and having a heat conducting surface disposed proximate the heat exchange body receiving compartment; and a heat exchange body removably disposable in the heat exchange body receiving compartment of the main body and having an input port and an output port to couple the heat exchange body to tubing to flow a fluid to be warmed through the heat exchange body. In another aspect, a fluid warming system increases or decreases power to a heater assembly to adjust the fluid temperature to ensure that the fluid is at an appropriate temperature when it reaches the patient.

Intravenous fluid warming system

A fluid trap apparatus includes an inlet configured to receive a flow of composite fluid into the apparatus. The composite fluid contains at least a first fluid and a second fluid. An outer wall defines an interior chamber. A flow diffuser is interposed within the interior chamber. The flow diffuser directs the flow of the composite fluid to circulate through the interior chamber. The first fluid and the second fluid separate as the composite fluid circulates through the interior chamber. A method of separating a first fluid from a second fluid includes introducing a flow of composite fluid into a separate chamber. A pressure gradient is created within the separation chamber. A flow diffuser is interposed in a flow path between an inlet and an outlet. The flow diffuser directs the flow of the composite fluid within the separation chamber. The first fluid and the second fluid are separated.

Fluid trap and method of separating fluids

The present invention is a cryopreservation device that has the ability to track and record preserved specimens using an integrated electronics system. The cryopreservation device stores specimens within a preservation chamber. A sealing cap encloses the preservation chamber. The integrated electronics system is embedded within a base attachment. The base attachment can be retrofitted into the cryopreservation device using a mechanical locking system and a recessed surface and cavity within the cryopreservation device. The mechanical locking system secures the base attachment into the cryopreservation device using multiple spring-loaded barbs and locking receptacles. The base attachment inserts within the recessed surface and cavity. The integrated electronics system uses a control block to operate a plurality of sensors and to attain time dependent specimen data. The specimen data is saved within a storage device. The specimen data can be retrieved without physically connecting to the integrated electronics system using a communication device.

Cryopreservation device with retrofitted electronic tracking device

A lithium polymer (LiPo) battery pack having LiPo battery cells is provided which includes battery protection circuitry, charging circuitry, cell balancing circuitry, and control and communication circuitry. The batteries can be charged while in use by an internal charger. Battery charging and discharging are accomplished in a controlled and protected manner to avoid overcharging and overdischarging conditions. The novel battery pack has built-in safeguards against dangerous LiPo battery conditions and is implemented in a small, portable unit which contains the battery cells, control and protection circuitry, internal charger and display gauge. The battery pack is useful for powering an intravenous fluid warmer or other medical or electrical devices and equipment.

Lithium polymer battery powered intravenous fluid warmer

A battery pack includes a plurality of cells. A discharge circuit is electrically connected to the plurality of cells. A computer processor is electrically connected to the discharge circuit and to an input device. The computer processor operates the discharge circuit to selectively connect a first and a second discharge load of the discharge circuit to the plurality of cells. A method of discharging a battery for safe disposal includes connecting a first discharge load in parallel to a first cell. A first voltage across the first cell is monitored. A second discharge load is connected in parallel to a second cell. A second voltage is monitored across the second cell. A processor compares the first voltage and the second voltage to a predetermined cell voltage threshold. The first discharge load and the second discharge load are disconnected from the first cell and the second cell when the first and second voltages fall below the predetermined cell voltage threshold.

Device and method of battery discharge

A battery pack includes at least one battery cell that expands and contracts in relation to the chemical conditions of the battery cell. A substrate is configured to contact the at least one battery cell. A sensor is attached to the substrate and the sensor produces a signal indicative of the displacement of the substrate. A controller is communicatively connected to the sensor such that the controller receives the signal from the sensor. The controller processes the signal to produce an indication of a status of the battery cell. A method of monitoring battery safety includes movably securing a substrate across at least one cell of a battery. A displacement of the substrate is measured. The measured displacement is processed with a controller to identify a safety status of the at least one cell. An output device is operated with a controller to provide an indication of the safety status of the at least one cell of the battery.

Device and method of determining safety in a battery pack

Devices, systems and methods for controlling fluid temperatures from more than one fluid containers prior to their infusion into a human body are disclosed. The device includes a power supply source for providing power; an input/output interface for receiving fluid temperature data from thermal sensors and for transmitting duty-cycle signals to each of the fluid warming unit; a processing unit for comparing fluid temperature data with a permissible fluid temperature range, for calculating a fluid temperature differential, and for apportioning the available work cycle of the power supply source; and a controller for adjusting the duty-cycle of each fluid warming unit based on the fluid temperature differentials, so that during each work cycle all available power provided by the power supply source is delivered to only one of the fluid warming units at a time.

Devices, systems, and methods for warming fluids in multiple intravenous fluid containers

Apparatus, systems, and methods for powering an electric device coupled to a patient to reduce transients on patient monitoring devices are provided herein. In some embodiments, an apparatus for reducing transient electrical events on a patient monitoring device may include a device that can be powered on or off to cause current flow through a load of the device and which has a line out that is capacitively coupled to a patient during use; and a control circuit to control a periodic coupling of first and second voltage sources to the load out of phase at a predetermined carrier frequency to provide continuous current flow through the load in alternating directions, and to control the periodic coupling of first and second voltage sources to the load in phase at a predetermined carrier frequency to provide no current flow through the load.

Methods and apparatus for powering electric devices coupled to a patient to reduce transients in patient monitoring devices

A fluid warming device includes axially or longitudinally slidable covers that retain a removable heat exchange body in a housing in heat exchange communication with a heater assembly while allowing flow through the heat exchange body to be observed. In another aspect, a fluid warming system increases or decreases power to a heater assembly to adjust the fluid temperature to ensure that the fluid is at an appropriate temperature when it reaches the patient.

A goaltender training device provides a screen representative of a goal opening and an image capture device to detect a goaltender against the screen. The training device provides visual indicators of goal coverage and records goaltender stance and position relative to the screen to provide training feedback. The training device can provide a light source directed at the screen to enhance image capture and simplify image analysis. The image capture device defines a reference screen in memory to compare against obstructions of the screen during a training exercise. Particular points on the reference screen are identified for coverage by the goaltender during training, and coverage status of the points may be indicated with the visual indicators. Sequences of images can be analyzed for a particular parameter, such as percentage of the screen covered, and downloaded to other devices for review and analysis.
