A closure () that is suitable for attachment to a container () having an end portion defining an opening of the container. The closure () comprises a top portion () and a skirt portion () depending from the top portion. The closure () also has a sealing rib () having a first sealing portion () which is contiguous with the top portion (). The first portion () has an inner surface made up of at least a first substantially cylindrical surface portion () lying radially inwardly of the first surface portion (). The rib () further includes a second sealing portion () that is separated from the top portion () by the first portion () and which, prior to attachment of the closure to the container, extends inwardly to a free edge. The closure () further has a continuous nub member () extending downwardly and outwardly from the underside of the top portion () and positioned radially inwardly of the first sealing portion (). On relative attachment of the closure to the container end portion, the nub member () seals with an inner surface of the container end portion and the sealing rib () seals with at least an outer surface of the container end portion.

Linerless bore seal closure

A closure () suitable for mounting onto a container (). A closure comprises a main closure () having a top portion () that has an aperture () therethrough and a skirt () depending downwardly from the top portion () that is attachable to the container. A sealing rib () extends inwardly from the inner surface of the main closure () and is adapted to form a seal with the end portion of the container (). A spout () extends upwardly from the top portion () and defines a bore that is in fluid communication with the aperture () in the top portion (). A plug () having radially outer surface is mounted to the spout (). The closure further comprises a top cap () that is mountable to the spout and is relatively movable between a first position where the plug () seals an opening in the top cap () and at least a second position where the plug () is withdrawn from the opening. On relative movement of the top cap () from the first position towards the second position, a sealing member () of the top cap () rides up over one or more protuberances () extending outwardly from the spout so as to at least partially release the seal made by the sealing member () with the spout ().

Self-venting sports type closure

A closure () that is suitable for attachment to a container () having an end portion defining an opening of the container. The closure comprises a top (), a skirt (), a support ring () that is engageable with the end portion of the container and which is hingedly connected to the skirt (), and a sealing rib (). The sealing rib () has a first portion () and a second portion (). The length of the second portion () is such that, during attachment of the closure () with the end portion of the container (), the end portion of the container contacts the second portion () and pushes it upwardly and at least towards the first portion () so as to form a seal between the end portion of the container () and the closure ().

Flip top closure

A closure ( ) for mounting onto a container ( ), the closure ( ) including a top portion ( ) and a skirt portion ( ) depending from the top portion ( ). An annular sealing rib ( ) projects downwardly from an underside of the top portion ( ). The rib ( ) includes a first portion ( ) which is contiguous with the top portion ( ) and has an inner surface ( ) which lies radially inwardly of the skirt portion ( ) and at least a second, frusto-conical, portion ( ) contiguous with the first portion ( ) and separated from the top portion ( ) by the inner surface ( ) of the first portion ( ). The second portion ( ) has an upper side and an underside and extends radially inwardly to a circular edge. The inner surface ( ) of the first portion ( ) has an internal diameter relative to the external diameter of the end portion ( ) of the container ( ) to which the closure is to be attached such that during attachment of the closure with the end portion of the container, the sealing rib ( ) is engaged by the end portion of the container so folding the second portion ( ) at least towards the inner surface ( ) of the first portion ( ) of the rib to form a seal between at least an outer surface of the end portion of the container and the closure. The closure further has an annular protrusion ( ) formed on the underside of the second portion ( ) which extends outwardly therefrom. The protrusion ( ), on attachment of the closure with the end portion, engages the outer surface of the end portion ( ) so causing the sealing rib ( ) to be disposed over a greater area of the outer surface of the end portion of the container.
