Systems and methods for supporting multi-tenancy in a multi-tenant application server environment are provided. A first partition in a multi-tenant server environment can include a first composite and the first composite includes first metadata that is configured to be customized for a first tenant of the first partition. A second partition in the multi-tenant server environment can include a second composite and the second composite includes second metadata that is configured to be customized for a second tenant of the second partition. A global runtime in the multi-tenant server environment can include a global composite and the global composite include global metadata that is configured to be shared by the first partition and the second partition.

Techniques are described for managing access to a repository system storing information (e.g. metadata) about objects (e.g. an application a process or a service) in a computing environment. The repository system can store a data structure (an 'entity') that includes information about an object. An entity can have an association with one or more collections of entities ('assets') that classify a collection of entities. Access to perform actions (e.g. create read update or delete) an entity can be managed based on an entitlement which grants a right to access information in the entity and/or at least one asset having an association with the entity. The repository system can manage access to one or more entities based on rights implied by an entitlement to access one or more assets associated with those entities.

Techniques are described for managing access to a repository system storing information (e.g., metadata) about objects (e.g., an application, a process, or a service) in a computing environment. Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) engines and Enterprise Service Buses (ESBs) often connect to adapters to integrate backend packaged applications with a process flow by invoking web services using Java Connector Architecture (JCA) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) bindings. The Web Service Description Language (WSDL) files for the web services that interact with the adapters can be introspected to harvest adapter integration and transformation information into a service metadata repository. This permits dependency and impact analysis to extend from services to adapters and transformations.
