Methods and apparatus for a mounting assembly for a liner of a gas turbine engine combustor are provided. The combustor includes a combustor liner and a radially outer annular flow sleeve. The mounting assembly includes an inner ring surrounding a radially outer surface of the liner and including a plurality of axially extending fingers. The mounting assembly also includes a radially outer ring coupled to the inner ring through a plurality of spacers that extend radially from a radially outer surface of the inner ring to the outer ring.

Methods and apparatus for radially compliant component mounting

A gas turbine combustor includes a substantially cylindrical combustor liner located substantially concentrically within a flow sleeve, the combustor liner composed through a ceramic matrix composite material, a forward end of the combustor liner provided with a plurality of circumferentially arranged bolt holes. An inner metal ring is located about an outside surface of the forward end of the combustor liner, the inner metal ring provided with a second plurality of circumferentially spaced bolt holes, with a plurality of bolts extending through the first and second pluralities of bolt holes and secured by self-locking nuts. An outer metal ring is spaced radially outwardly of the inner metal ring, with a plurality of circumferentially spaced struts extending between the inner and outer rings.

Bolting configuration for joining ceramic combustor liner to metal mounting attachments

A turbine engine shroud segment comprises a body including an outer surface from and along which a segment projection extends away from and in an axial direction. The segment projection includes circumferentially spaced apart segment support surfaces. A shroud hanger comprises a body including an inner surface from and along which a hanger projection extends in an axial direction. The hanger projection includes circumferentially spaced hanger bearing surfaces. In a circumferential turbine engine shroud assembly of shroud segments and hangers, a shroud hanger is assembled between a pair of adjacent shroud segments separated by an axial interface. The hanger projection is in juxtaposition with the interface, and respective segment support surfaces and hanger bearing surfaces are in registry.

A collar seal is configured for a turbine nozzle vane. The seal includes a retainer having a circumferential airfoil contour conforming with the airfoil contour of the vane. A flexible leaf is surrounded by the retainer and fixedly joined thereto. A woven sheath encases the leaf and is fixedly joined to the retainer. In an exemplary embodiment, the collar seal surrounds one end of a ceramic turbine vane mounted in a metal supporting band.

An assembly for mounting an igniter in a gas turbine engine combustor between an outer casing and an outer liner, wherein a longitudinal centerline axis extends through the gas turbine engine. The igniter mounting assembly includes a first spring member encircling a portion of said igniter and being positioned between a surface adjacent the outer casing and an outer surface of the outer liner, a first ring member connected to a first end of the first spring member adjacent the outer surface of the outer liner, and a second ring member connected to a second end of the first spring member adjacent the surface adjacent the outer casing. Accordingly, the igniter is able to maintain substantial alignment with respect to an opening in the outer liner while moving radially and/or axially with respect to the outer liner as the outer casing experiences thermal growth greater than the outer liner.

Mounting assembly for igniter in a gas turbine engine combustor having a ceramic matrix composite liner

A mounting assembly for a forward end of a liner in a combustor of a gas turbine engine including a dome and a cowl, wherein a longitudinal centerline axis extends through the gas turbine engine. The mounting assembly includes a pin member extending through each one of a plurality of circumferentially spaced openings formed in the forward end of the liner, an aft portion of the cowl, and a portion of the dome, with each pin member including a head portion at one end thereof. A nut is adjustably connected to an end of each pin member opposite the head portion. A bushing is located on each pin member at a position intermediate the head portion and the nut, wherein the openings in the liner forward end are sized to fit around the bushings. In this way, the cowl aft portion and the dome portion are fixedly connected together between the bushing and the nut so that the bushings are able to slide radially through the openings in the liner forward end as the cowl and the dome experience thermal growth greater than the liner.

A mounting assembly for an aft end of a liner of a gas turbine engine combustor including a support member, wherein a longitudinal centerline axis extends through the gas turbine engine. The mounting assembly includes a pin member extending through each one of a plurality of circumferentially spaced openings in a portion of the support member for the combustor and into a plurality of partial openings formed in the aft end of the liner, with each pin member including a head portion at one end thereof, and a device positioned within each opening in the support member so as to retain the pin members therein. The pin members and the support member are able to slide radially and/or axially with respect to the liner aft end as the support member experiences thermal growth greater than the liner.

An assembly for providing a seal at an aft end of a combustor liner for a gas turbine engine including a longitudinal centerline axis extending therethrough. The sealing assembly includes a substantially annular first sealing member positioned between an aft portion of a support member and the liner aft end so as to seat on a designated surface portion of the liner aft end and a substantially annular second sealing member positioned between the support member aft portion and a turbine nozzle located downstream of the liner aft end so as to seat on a designated surface portion of the support member aft portion. Accordingly, the first sealing member is maintained in its seated position as the support member aft portion moves radially with respect to the liner aft end and the second sealing member is maintained in its seated position as the support member aft portion moves axially with respect to the turbine nozzle. The first and second sealing members are also maintained in their respective seating positions as the support member aft portion moves axially with respect to the liner aft end and radially with respect to the turbine nozzle.

A support assembly for a gas turbine engine combustor including an inner liner and an inner casing spaced therefrom, wherein a longitudinal centerline axis extends through the gas turbine engine. The support assembly includes an annular inner support cone located adjacent an aft end of said inner liner, an annular nozzle support connected to the inner support cone, and a plurality of support members connected at a first end to a forward end of the inner liner and connected at a second end to the inner support cone.

Support assembly for a gas turbine engine combustor

A gas turbine engine rotor assembly including a rotor having a radially outer rim with an outer surface shaped to reduce circumferential rim stress concentration between each blade and the rim. Additionally, the shape of the outer surface directs air flow away from an interface between a blade and the rim to reduce aerodynamic performance losses between the rim and blades. In an exemplary embodiment, the outer surface of the rim has a concave shape between adjacent blades with apexes located at interfaces between the blades and the rim.

A gas turbine engine includes a compressor rotor assembly which directs air at a sufficent pressure and temperature to a compressor rotor bore. The compressor assembly includes a compressor including a plurality of rotors joined with a plurality of couplings. Each of the rotors includes a radially outer rim, a radially inner hub, and a web extending therebetween. The web includes a flange including a plurality of slots which define a plurality of radial vanes that are airfoil-shaped. The vanes effectively deswirl bleed air and re-direct the airflow to a compressor bore.

Methods and apparatus for directing airflow to a compressor bore

A compressor stator includes a casing having a circumferentially extending slot therein in which are mounted a plurality of vane sectors. Each sector includes a plurality of vanes extending between outer and inner bands, with each outer band being mounted in the slot. A plurality of tabs are ranged in interlocked pairs between the outer bands and casing for unloading adjacent sectors from each other.

A compressor casing is configured to surround blade tips in a compressor stage. The casing includes stall grooves with adjoining lands defining respective local gaps with the blade tips. At least one of the lands is offset to locally increase a corresponding one of the gaps larger than the nominal gap for the casing to reduce tip rubbing thereat.

A high flow interstage air extraction system for a gas turbine engine includes a 360 degree annular slot formed in a compressor stator casing by a first wall and a second wall. A plurality of baffle plates extend from the second wall to eliminate circumferential airflow. A plurality of stator vane platforms form at least a portion of the first wall. The annular slot results in large amounts of interstage compressor air being extracted from the compressor without adding length to the compressor and the engine.

Reduced-length high flow interstage air extraction

A bladed disk assembly includes a rotor disk having an axial dovetail slot, and a rotor blade having a dovetail disposed in the slot. A blade retainer is fixedly joined to the disk for retaining the dovetail in the slot. A spacer is disposed in the slot between the blade retainer and the dovetail and is selectively compressible for allowing the dovetail to slide in the slot toward the blade retainer for generating friction forces to dissipate energy upon impact of a predeterminedly sized foreign object.
