A mailer intermediate, foldable into postcard size, includes a generally rectangular sheet of card stock having first and second side edges, first and second end edges, and first and second faces. A fold line extends substantially transverse to the side edges and substantially bisecting them, and dividing the sheet into first and second portions. An adhesive pattern on the first face of the sheet, adjacent at least one of the first and second end edges, secures the first and second portions together adjacent the first and second end edges. An obscuring coating and a camouflage image are provided on the first face of the sheet. Variable indicia are printed on the obscuring coating, and are not legible when viewed by an observer who separates the first and second portions while the first and second portions remain secured together adjacent the first and second end edges. The obscuring coating may comprise a multi-layer, thermochromic coating. Alternatively, the obscuring coating may comprise a reflective coating.

A pattern of coating is applied to a label, such that the coating covers the periphery, including a portion of the top surface of the label, and overlaps onto the liner ply area adjacent to the label. The coating is selected to form a stable and resistant film that spans continuously along the label edge and liner surfaces. The coating reduces adhesive ooze when the label is exposed to elevated ambient temperatures and pressures.

A form comprises a cellulosic sheet having a perforation defining a first portion and a second portion. The first portion may define either a card or alternatively a label, and is impregnated with a waterproofing polymerizable composition. The first portion is preferably resistant to water, and is receptive to inks. As such, user variable indicia may be applied anywhere on the sheet including the first portion. For applications requiring a label, an adhesive and liner ply may be applied to the back of the sheet. The liner ply includes a release coating in register with the first portion defining the label, such that, upon removing the label from the sheet, a substantial portion of the adhesive remains with the label.

Integrated waterproof card or label and method thereof

A security document is provided comprising a finished cellulosic substrate having at least one transparentized portion formed therein. The transparentized portion comprises a transparentizing composition that is applied so as to define an area of increased transparency in the substrate. The area of increased transparency includes at least one thin line and resembles a simulated security thread. The transparentizing composition can be applied to form thin lines in a variety of configurations on one or both sides of the substrate.

A single ply carbonless form is provided where a sheet is divided into a first portion and a second portion. A coating of CF is applied to the first portion and a coating of CB is applied to the second portion, both on the same side of the sheet. A quantity of temporary tacking agent is applied to the back face of the sheet such that, upon folding the sheet in a manner where the CF and CB portions are not in contact with each other, the first portion is releasably held against the second portion. The form may then be sheet fed into a printing device, preferably using the folded edge as the leading edge. Subsequent to printing, the form may then be re-folded such that the CF and CB coating suitably line up for receiving impact impressions.

Laser imageable carbonless form

A secure sticker is provided comprising a waterproof base portion including a paper ply, static printed matter, and a resin, wherein the paper ply and the static printed matter are sealed within the resin, and wherein the resin is substantially transparent to light in the visible spectrum. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a secure sticker is provided comprising a substantially waterproof base portion, a liner ply, and an adhesive interface. The substantially waterproof base portion includes a paper ply, static printed matter, and a resin. The paper ply and the static printed matter are sealed within the resin. The resin is substantially transparent to light in the visible spectrum. The liner ply defines a label portion and a removable portion, wherein the label portion includes variable printed matter thereon. The adhesive interface is arranged to adhere the liner ply to the base portion. The adhesive interface is substantially transparent to light in the visible spectrum and the adhesive interface and the liner ply are arranged such that the label portion is more likely than the removable portion to remain adhered to the base portion.

A mailer intermediate is formed from a sheet having at least one transverse fold line dividing the sheet into a first panel and a second panel such that the first panel longitudinal dimensions are equal to, or exceed the second panel longitudinal dimensions. The second panel is folded over onto the first panel. A temporary tacking agent is applied to the face of the sheet to temporarily tack down the folded over, transverse edge of the lower panel. The mailer intermediate may be processed in this pre-folded condition according to the user's variable imaging needs because there are no loose edges to catch in printer output stacking trays, or jam in internal components of printers. The longitudinal edges of the return envelope panel may be permanently sealed prior to printing, or may be sealed later during processing through folder/sealer equipment.

A business form includes a carrier sheet having an upper surface and a lower surface, and defining a die cut opening there through, with a patch of liner material mounted on the lower surface of the carrier sheet. The patch extends over the opening. The liner material has an upper surface facing the die cut opening in the carrier sheet, and carries a release coating on the upper surface. A two ply label assembly is mounted on the patch of liner material in the die cut opening. The two ply label assembly includes a transparent ply mounted on the upper surface of the patch of liner material, and a label ply mounted on the transparent ply. The form is manufactured by: a.) die cutting an opening in a piece of carrier material; b.) adhesively affixing a patch of liner material to the piece of carrier material; c.) mounting a transparent ply on the patch of liner material within the die cut opening; and d.) mounting a label ply on the transparent ply. The form is used by: a.) removing the label ply from the transparent ply; b.) adhesively securing the label ply to the label support surface; c.) removing the transparent ply from the patch of liner material; and d.) adhesively securing the transparent ply to the label ply and to the label support surface, such that the transparent ply completely covers the label ply, thereby protecting the label ply while permitting the indicia to be viewed.

Method of making a business form including a label

A cellulosic sheet suitable for use as a security document is provided including a multi-functional transparent secure mark formed therein. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention the secure mark comprises a transparentized portion of the substrate. The cellulosic substrate defines first and second major faces. The transparentized portion comprises a transparentizing composition applied to the cellulosic substrate in a predetermined pattern so as to define a graphical image having a relative transparency selected so as to define an area of increased transparency in the substrate. The transparentizing composition comprises a transparentizing agent and a security agent. In one embodiment of the present invention, the transparentized portion includes a printed portion and printed matter defining the printed portion is covered by the transparentizing composition.

Multi-functional transparent secure marks

Security paper, security documents made from the security paper, and processes for making the security paper, are provided. A filament is bonded and embedded into paper which has previously been manufactured. The filament is bonded to the paper by an adhesive, or by heat and pressure. The filament is embedded into the paper by pressure applied by rolls. The filament may be imprinted with printed matter for visual confirmation of document authenticity. The filament may include any combination of security features, such as reflective filaments, fluorescent filaments, and high tensile strength filaments.

The present invention is an envelope sheet capable of being automatically printed and formed into a standard business envelope using a high-speed separate sheet printer in line with high-speed separate sheet folding and pressure sealing equipment. The present envelope sheet comprises a front panel connected to a back panel along a bottom fold line, to a closing flap along a top fold line, to a left-side flap along a left-side fold line and to a right-side flat along a right-side fold line. The front panel, back panel, closing flap and both side flaps each have an upper surface and a lower surface. The back panel is adhered to the left-side and right-side flaps with a latent adhesive sandwiched therebetween. The present invention also includes a method and apparatus for automatically printing and forming an envelope from the present envelope sheet, as well as automatically stuffing the envelope while it is being formed.

Method of processing and stuffing an envelope

A business form construction containing a removable label is provided. The construction includes a substrate having a window therein, a liner ply adhered to the substrate which covers the window, and at least one label which is adhered to the liner ply. The liner ply is adhered to the substrate by a pressure sensitive adhesive which is on either the periphery of the liner ply or on the periphery of the window of the substrate. The label may be adhered to the liner ply by a pressure sensitive adhesive or a releaseable adhesive. A preferred method of making the construction includes die-cutting a window in the substrate, applying a pattern of adhesive on the substrate around the periphery of the window, and placing the liner ply carrying the label on the substrate.
