A system for recording metadata is disclosed. The system includes an acoustic vibration sensing system. The system also includes one or more sensors operable to measure characteristic parameters. The sensors are coupled to the acoustic vibration sensing system and include one or more channels for recording metadata. The system further includes one or more optical modulators. The optical modulators modulate a signal received from the one or more sensors and direct the modulated signal to the acoustic vibration sensing system. The system further includes one or more sources of the metadata coupled to the one or more optical modulators.

A method of controlling electrical power delivery to a well tool can include transmitting trigger light via an optical waveguide to a circuit in a well, and the circuit delivering the electrical power to the well tool in response to the circuit receiving the trigger light. A circuit for supplying electrical power to at least one well tool can include a photodiode which receives light from an optical waveguide in a well, a voltage increaser which increases a voltage output by the photodiode, and an electrical energy storage device which receives electrical energy via the voltage increaser, whereby the electrical power can be supplied to the downhole well tool from the storage device.

A disclosed system for downhole time domain reflectometry (TDR) includes a surface electro-optical interface, a downhole electro-optical interface, a fiber-optic cable that couples the surface electro-optical interface and the downhole electro-optical interface, and an electrical transmission line that extends from the downhole electro-optical interface into a wellbore environment to enable TDR operations. A described method for downhole TDR includes transmitting an optical signal to a downhole environment, converting the optical signal to an electrical signal in the downhole environment, reflecting the electrical signal using an electrical transmission line in the downhole environment, analyzing data corresponding to the reflected electrical signal, and displaying a result of the analysis.

Fiber optic enabled casing collar locator systems and methods include a wireline sonde or a coil tubing sonde apparatus configured to be conveyed through a casing string by a fiber optic cable. Missing child reporting, tracking and recovery method and system

A method and system for drilling or cutting a subterranean well or formation using a drilling rig a drill string a plurality of solid material impactors a drilling fluid and a drill bit is disclosed. This invention may have particular utility in drilling wells for the petroleum industry and for cutting formation in the mining and tunnel boring industries. In a preferred embodiment, a plurality of solid material impactors are introduced into the drilling fluid and pumped through the drill string and drill bit to impact the formation ahead of the bit. At the point of impact, a substantial portion by weight of the impactors may have sufficient energy to structurally alter, excavate, and/or fracture the impacted formation. The majority by weight of the plurality of solid material impactors may have a mean diameter of at least 0.100 inches, and may structurally alter the formation to a depth of at least twice the mean diameter of the particles comprising the impacted formation. Impactor mass and/or velocity may be selected to satisfy a mass-velocity relationship in the respective impactor sufficient to structurally alter the formation. Rotational, gravitational, kinetic and/or hydraulic energy available at the bit in each of the bit, the impactors and the fluid may thereby more efficiently effect the generation and removal of formation cuttings ahead of the bit.

The present invention is a walking assist device which comprises a shaft having a hand grip at one end and having an end piece at the other. A retractable member is positioned within the end piece and has a point at one end. The retractable member may be positioned in a first position such that the point protrudes from the end piece. The retractable member has a second position in which the point is retracted within the end piece. In an alternate embodiment, a locking mechanism is connected between the shaft and the retractable member to provide an alternately locked position in either the retracted or protruding position of the point.

A rake for attachment to a tractor and operation by the tractor hydraulic system. Rake tines are carried on an endless chain by pivotally mounted brackets along upper and lower runs with counterbalance means providing pivotal movement of the tines between folded and extended positions while traveling along the upper and lower runs, respectively. The rake may be moved to extend laterally outward from the tractor for raking between trees, and the like. The mounting and guide means for the chain and teeth-carrying brackets provide a sturdy and efficient raking action while avoiding clogging as brush is removed.

A receptacle for hand-picked fruit which is susceptible to damage by crushing or bruising. A conventional picking bag or bucket is provided with a removable liner which is preferably formed from a single, flat sheet of a closed-cell foam plastic material. The liner is bent to conform to the cylindrical configuration of the picking bag or bucket wherein it is inserted, and does not interfere with use in the normal manner of canvas picking bags which are adapted for fruit discharge through the bottom.

Pollen is dispensed from a container through openings in a wall portion thereof by attaching the container to the end of a member which is manually movable by means of a handle at the end opposite the container. The member contacts a stop when moving in one direction, thereby agitating the pollen within the container so that it falls through the openings which are downwardly disposed when the handle is grasped.
