This invention relates to novel compounds which are useful in the modulation of endogenous growth hormone levels in a mammal. The invention further relates to novel intermediates for use in the synthesis of said compounds, as well as novel processes employed in these syntheses. Also included are methods of treating a mammal which include the administration of said compounds.

Growth hormone secretagogues

A method of inhibiting endometriosis comprising administering to a human in need of treatment an effective amount of a compound having the formula ##STR1## Wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 are independently hydrogen, --CH.sub.3, ##STR2## wherein Ar is optionally substituted phenyl; R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of pyrrolidine and piperidino; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of solvate thereof.

Methods for inhibiting endometriosis

A method of inhibiting endometriosis comprising administering to a human in need of treatment an effective amount of a compound having the formula ##STR1## Wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 are independently hydrogen, --CH.sub.3, ##STR2## wherein Ar is optionally substituted phenyl;

A method of inhibiting uterine fibrosis comprising administering to a human or other mammal in need of treatment an effective amount of a compound having the formula ##STR1## Wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 are independently hydrogen, ##STR2## wherein Ar is optionally substituted phenyl; wherein R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of pyrrolidino and piperidino, a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof.
