An interval control valve actuator includes an electrohydraulic pressure generator and an actuation pressure line extending between the generator and a valve. A hydraulic junction disposed in the actuation pressure line is selectively hydraulically joins the actuation pressure line to a backup pressure line. An interval control valve including a housing, a valve disposed in the housing, an electrohydraulic actuator hydraulically connected to the valve by an actuation pressure line. A hydraulic junction disposed between the electrohydraulic actuator and the valve and a backup pressure line hydraulically connected to the hydraulic junction, the backup pressure line being selectively hydraulically connectable to the actuation pressure line.

An over element line protector comprises a body having a first major surface including a first curvature of a first radius and a second major surface including a second curvature having a second smaller radius. The second radius is smaller than the first radius. The body has a longitudinal extent and a central region aligned with and along the longitudinal extent. The central region is of a first thickness. Wing regions extend laterally from the central region and have a second smaller thickness than the first thickness. A passageway is located in the central region extending along the longitudinal extent of the body configured to protect a line therein.

A method of completing a wellbore system that includes a main wellbore and a lateral wellbore intersecting the main wellbore at a junction is disclosed, wherein in one embodiment the method includes placing a first outer assembly below the junction in the main wellbore and placing a second outer assembly below the junction in the lateral wellbore; placing a first inner assembly in the second outer assembly with a top end thereof below the junction, the top end of the first inner assembly including a first wet connect associated with at least one link in the first inner assembly; and connecting a second wet connect of a string with the first wet connect with a top end of the string having a third wet connect corresponding to the at least one link above the junction in the main wellbore.

Instrumented multilateral wellbores and method of forming same

A tubing pressure insensitive, pressure compensated actuator system includes a housing having a bore therein. A force transmitter sealingly moveable within the bore. The force transmitter defining with the bore two fluid chambers. The two fluid chambers being in fluid communication with each other, one at each longitudinal end of the force transmitter. An activator in one or both of the two fluid chambers and operatively connected to the force transmitter. At least two seals sealingly positioned between the housing and the force transmitter. One of the seals disposed near one end of the force transmitter and another of the seals disposed near another end of the force transmitter. A separate compensation piston disposed in the housing so as to expose one end of the compensation piston to tubing pressure and to expose the other end of the compensation piston to a fluid volume including the fluid chambers. Also included is a method for reducing force requirements of an actuator.

Tubing pressure insensitive pressure compensated actuator for a downhole tool and method

A system and methods for proportionally controlling hydraulically actuated downhole flow control devices using derived feedback control. The system comprises a downhole flow control device with a moveable element in a stationary housing. The moveable element is actuated by a balanced hydraulic piston. Hydraulic lines are fed to either side of the piston to effect actuation in either direction. A processor controlled, surface mounted hydraulic system supplies fluid to the piston. A pressure sensor measures supply pressure to the piston and a cycle counter indicates pump cycles and both sensors generate outputs to the processor. The downhole moveable element is cycled between end stops until successive moveable element breakout pressures are within a predetermined value as measured by the surface pressure sensor. A relationship is then derived between moveable element movement and pumped fluid volume and the relationship is used to move the moveable element to a predetermined position to control flow.

Method and system for controlling a downhole flow control device using derived feedback control

The present invention includes a well system having a sensor; a controller for converting the sensor output, a signal conducting mass, a magnetostrictive actuator for inducing an acoustic wave the signal conducting mass, a reaction mass being greater than the signal conducting mass, an acoustic wave receiver up-hole, and a processor for processing a signal from the acoustic wave receiver and for delivering the processed signal to an output device.

High efficiency acoustic transmitting system and method

An hydraulic lock alleviation device a well cementing stage tool with such a device, and related methods for their use. The device has a channel for transmitting trapped fluid which causes a hydraulic lock from the trapped area to another area. The channel is blocked by a pressure responsive member which ruptures, moves, breaks, or is punctured to permit trapped fluid to glow from the area of hydraulic lock. In one embodiment of a stage tool with such a device, a puncture apparatus can be moved to puncture the pressure responsive member. In other embodiments, a movable piston or spool is mounted in the channel for movement to permit the flow of trapped fluid.

Cementing plug

A wellbore plug having a wiper disposed in inverted position which, in one embodiment, reinforces a conventionally disposed wiper of the plug. A plug wiper is provided which has a conventional cone-shaped portion and an opposing reinforcing portion, cone-shaped or otherwise. A plug wiper is provided which has no threads for mating with other parts of the plug, but which has a hollow recess for emplacing the wiper on a plug shaft.
