A liquid cooling enclosure configured to house and cool at least one circuit component, the liquid cooling enclosure including an inner wall, an outer wall, the outer wall being spaced from the inner wall to form an internal channel, an inlet in fluid communication with the internal channel, the inlet being configured to receive cooling liquid, and an outlet in fluid communication with the internal channel, the outlet being configured to return cooling liquid, wherein the at least one circuit component is positioned within the liquid cooling enclosure and the cooling liquid is circulated around the at least one circuit component via the internal channel.

According to one aspect, embodiments herein provide a UPS comprising a UPS input configured to be coupled to an AC power source and to receive input AC power, an interface configured to be coupled to a DC power source and to receive backup DC power, a UPS output configured to provide output power derived from at least one of the input AC power and the backup DC power to a load, a converter comprising a converter input coupled to the UPS input, a converter output, a first converter path coupled between the converter input and the converter output, and a second converter path coupled between the converter input and the converter output, and a controller configured to operate the first converter path and the second converter path to convert the input AC power into DC power and provide the DC power to the converter output.

An uninterruptible power supply includes a first input to receive input power from an input power source, an output to provide output power, a switch, a first logic power supply coupled to the switch, a back-up power source, a charger, a main logic power supply and power converter circuitry. The switch is configured to close when a characteristic of the input power is within a selected range. The first logic power supply is coupled to the switch and configured to receive input power from the input power source when the switch is closed. The first logic power supply has a first DC output. The back-up power source has a second DC output and is coupled to the first DC output at a common node. The charger has a third DC output and is coupled to the common node. The main logic power supply is coupled to the common node and is configured to receive at least one of the first DC output, the second DC output and the third DC output. The power converter circuitry is coupled to the backup power source and the first input and is configured to provides the output power derived from at least one of power at the first input and power from the backup power source.

Systems and methods for operating an uninterruptible power supply

Systems and methods of operating a voltage converter are provided. The converter includes an output inductor and an output capacitor coupled to a rectifier circuit. The converter also includes a clamp circuit having a clamping diode and a clamping capacitor coupled in series, with the serial combination in parallel with the output inductor. The clamp circuit can also include a recovery inductor coupled to the output capacitor, and a switch configured to selectively couple and decouple the recovery inductor in parallel with the clamping capacitor.

At least some aspects of the invention are directed to methods and apparatus for controlling an uninterruptible power supply and subsystems of a UPS. A first aspect of the invention is directed to a method of controlling a DC-DC converter having a predetermined maximum peak load current value. The DC-DC converter has first and second outputs to couple to a load with a capacitor coupled across the first and second outputs. The method includes in a first mode of operation, charging the capacitor to a predetermined output voltage value, and in a second mode of operation, providing output current having the maximum peak load current value to a load coupled to the output of the DC-DC converter, wherein a first portion of the output current is provided by the DC-DC converter and a second portion of the output current is provided by discharging the capacitor to a voltage value that is less than the predetermined output voltage value.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to an uninterruptible power supply for providing AC power to a load. In embodiments of the present invention, the uninterruptible power supply includes an input to receive AC power from an AC power source, an output that provides AC power, a DC voltage source that provides DC power, the DC voltage source having an energy storage device, an inverter operatively coupled to the DC voltage source to receive DC power and to provide AC power. The inverter includes first and second output nodes to provide AC power to the load, first and second input nodes to receive DC power from the DC voltage source, a resonant element having a first terminal and a second terminal, the second terminal being electrically coupled to the first output node, a first switch electrically coupled between the first terminal of the resonant element and the first input node, wherein during a first time period, the first switch is controlled to allow an electrical current path to connect the resonant element to the capacitive element, an electrical current of the path storing energy in the resonant element and charging the capacitive element to a first voltage level, and during a second time period, the first switch is controlled to block the current path to cause the stored energy in the resonant element to further charge the capacitive element to a second voltage level during the second time period. The uninterruptible power supply further includes a transfer switch constructed and arranged to select one of the AC power source and the DC voltage source as an output power source for the uninterruptible power supply.

Method and apparatus for converting a DC voltage to an AC voltage

Embodiments of the present invention are directed to an uninterruptible power supply for providing AC power to a load having a capacitive element. In embodiments of the present invention the uninterruptible power supply includes an input to receive AC power from an AC power source, an output that provides AC power, a DC voltage source that provides DC power, the DC voltage source having an energy storage device, an inverter operatively coupled to the DC voltage source to receive DC power and to provide AC power, the inverter including: first and second output nodes to provide AC power to the load having the first capacitive element, first and second input nodes to receive DC power from the DC voltage source, a circuit operatively coupled to the first output node of the inverter, the circuit being configured to compare a value representative of load capacitance of the first capacitive element with a reference value to determine excessive load capacitance, a set of switches operatively coupled between the first and second output nodes and the first and second input nodes and controlled to generate AC power from the DC power, and a transfer switch constructed and arranged to select one of the AC power source and the DC voltage source as an output power source for the uninterruptible power supply.
