An intercooled electronic device, includes a thermally conductive chassis (110), a substrate (120) mounted onto the chassis (110), a housing (104) formed around the chassis (110), and a cooling fan (130) mounted internally within the housing (104). The substrate (120) carries electrical circuitry including at least one heat-generating component (122) which is thermally coupled to the chassis (110). The cooling fan (130) is oriented to direct air across the chassis (110).

Intercooled electronic device

A cam actuated control device (10) is provided. The control device (10) includes at least two momentary switches (13, 14) which are surface mounted on a circuit substrate (12). An actuating member (20) having a contoured cam surface (25) is movably positioned proximate to the switches (13, 14) such that movement of the actuating member (20) selectively actuates the switches (13, 14) to produce a binary encoded output.

A speaker assembly (100) includes a speaker (202) having at least one speaker terminal (206) and a magnet (204) which generates a magnetic field. The speaker assembly (100) also includes a circuit board (116) having at least one terminal (110). A metal member (106) is coupled to the circuit board (116) and is used to magnetically attach speaker (202) to circuit board (116). Upon speaker (202) being magnetically coupled to circuit board (116), the at least one speaker contact (206) becomes coupled to speaker terminal (110). Thereby, allowing for a quick way of attaching and detaching speaker (202) to and from circuit board (116).

Briefly, according to the invention, there is provided a shielded speaker. The speaker (10) has a diaphragm (18) coated with a metal layer (28). The coated diaphragm prevents the transmission of unwanted electromagnetic or radio frequency radiation from the front side (22) of the speaker to the rear side (24) of the speaker. In an alternate embodiment of the invention, a shielded electronic device is provided. The device consists of a housing (40) that has an opening (42) for a speaker (10) and a shielding means (44) contained within the housing. The speaker has a diaphragm coated with a metal layer. Disposed within the housing is an electronic device that is susceptible to or emits electromagnetic radiation. The electronic device (46) is coupled to the speaker and the speaker is mounted in the housing such that the metal layer is electrically coupled (48) to the shielding means. The diaphragm with the coated metal layer effectively covers the speaker opening to prevent transmission of spurious electromagnetic or radio frequency radiation through the speaker opening. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the metal layer is a sputtered coating and is applied to one side of the diaphragm.

Shielded speaker

A rotary control device is provided comprising a light source (22), at least one light receptor (24) radially spaced from the light source (22), a light director (14) having means for directing light from the light source (22) to the receptor (24) and means for rotating the director (14) so that the light director (14) is in a first position when not directing light from the light source (22) to the light receptor (24) and the light director (14) is in a second position when directing light from the light source (22) to the light receptor (24). In another aspect of the invention, the optical rotary device further comprises an isolator (26) made of opaque material which surrounds four sides of the light receptor (24) and four sides of the light source (22). In a further aspect of the invention the light director includes a reflector (46) for directing the light from the light source (22) to the light receptors (24).

Optical rotary control device

An optical rotary control device (10) is provided comprising a light source (12) and at least one light receptor (14) linearly spaced, creating a planar axis with the light source (12). A rotatable light director (16) is provided which includes means for directing light from the light source (12) to at least one optical aperture (22) in the light director (16). The optical aperture (22) refracts the directed light from the light director (16) to the light receptor (14). The optical rotary control (10) device further comprises an isolator portion (20) having recesses (24) for receiving and separating the light source (12) and light receptor (14). The means for directing light may include a cut out section (18) in one end of the light director (16 ).

Optical control switch device having a plurality of light receptors

An integral electric switch, for controlling an electronic apparatus, comprises a main housing and a flap portion, rotatably attached thereto. The main housing contains the electronic apparatus. The flap portion has a hinge cam for rotatably attaching the flap portion to the main housing, so that the flap portion is movable from a defined open position to a closed position with respect to the main body. The main housing comprises a plurality of spring fingers making sliding contact with the hinge cam as the flap portion is rotated from the open position to the closed position thus providing a switching function and electrical connection from the housing to devices contained within the flap.

A method for producing a three dimensional plastic article having an insert. The three dimensional plastic article (20) is formed by exposing a liquid photopolymer or other material (14) capable of selective solidification or curing to a source of energy (10), preferably a laser beam (30). A portion of the three dimensional plastic article is formed by selectively exposing portions of the surface (12) of the liquid photopolymer to the laser beam. The insert (26) is placed onto the partially formed article (20), and the remainder of the article is formed by selectively exposing additional portions of the surface (16) of the liquid polymer to the laser beam, creating successive layers, whereupon a plurality of the layers form the three dimensional article (20). The insert (26) becomes an integral part of the completed three-dimensional article.

Method of manufacturing a three-dimensional plastic article

The electrical assembly of the present invention comprises an integrally molded member which includes at least one three dimensional connector. Electrical printed circuitry are disposed on the integrally molded member, wherein portions of the printed circuitry comprise electrical contacts of the connector. Electrical components are placed on the integrally molded member and are electrically interconnected via the printed circuitry.

A flexible substrate (100) carries circuitry (102) in one area of the substrate and other portions of the substrate are at least partially covered with conductive material (206) to provide a ground plane. The substrate is folded about the circuitry to form an enclosure shielding the circuit.
