A method and system for determining the likely uniqueness and novelty of a subject concept, such as a patent, in comparison with other published references embodying other concepts by examining the subject concept in the context of references published both before and after the subject concept looking for instances in which a particular other published reference can be determined to be an ancestor of or progeny of the subject concept and then constructing and displaying a morphogenetic icon for representing such multi-dimensional, multi-temporal relationships in a two-dimensional manner.

Method and system for graphical representation of multitemporal, multidimensional data relationships

A method and apparatus for deciding whether to make a loan using an intangible asset, such as intellectual property, as collateral and for making such a loan more attractive to a lender. The method requires that an assessment of the transferability and viability of the asset be made to determine if the asset and loan applicant meet minimum qualifying criteria. If they do, a more detailed analysis is undertaken in which judgments are reached concerning various factors related to historical, comparative and prospective market behavior in market sectors identical with, as well as parallel and corollary to the primary market sector for the asset sought to be used as loan collateral. The analysis leads to calculation of an asset liquidation value and production of a correlated depreciation schedule which are both presented to the prospective lender. A third party then contracts with the lender to pay the asset liquidation value to the lender, adjusted for depreciation over time, in the event that the loan applicant defaults on the loan. This arrangement reduces the lender's risk of loss thereby making the loan more attractive. A computer-based apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for establishing and enhancing the creditworthiness of intellectual property

A guidance system and method for accurately reproducing surgical approach angles for increasing the efficiency and accuracy of image-guided biopsy procedures which require high levels of precision with respect to the orientation of surgical instruments prior to insertion. A tri-axial structure mounted in the vicinity of the patient provides a laser light beam to the point of incision on the surface of a patient. The orientation of this laser light beam serves as a guide for not only the location of the entry point of the surgical instrument but also the orientation of the surgical instrument during insertion. A range finding structure positioned in parallel with the tri-axial mounted structure provides an indication of the depth of insertion of the surgical instrument.
