A micro power distribution box is provided which includes a device, a connector/housing and a cover. The device has a substrate, at least one first finger, at least one second finger, and at least one electrical component. The at least one first finger and the at least one second finger are electrically connected to one another. The at least one first finger has first, second and third portions. The at least one second finger has first and second portions. The substrate is overmolded to the first portions of the at least one first and second fingers. The substrate is not overmolded to the second portions of the at least one first and second fingers or to the third portion of the at least one first finger. The second portions of the at least one first and second fingers extend outwardly from the substrate. The second portion of the at least one first finger is a high current contact. The second portion of the at least one second finger is a contact pin. The third portion of the at least one first finger is exposed via an aperture provided through the substrate. The at least one electrical component is directly mounted to the third portion of the at least one first finger in order to electrically connect the at least one electrical component to the at least one first finger. The connector/housing is configured to house the device therein and is configured to be connected to a mating connector. The cover is configured to be secured to the connector/housing in a manner which prevents the device from being removed from the connector/housing.

Micro power distribution boxes and methods of manufacturing same using application specific electronics packaging techniques

A power module of an electrical connector is provided which has a dielectric housing and a pair of blade terminals. The housing has a forward face and a support arm projecting forwardly from the face. The support arm has opposing first and second sides. The housing has a cavity. The face has a pair of slots extending therethrough which are in communication with the cavity and which are provided adjacent the sides of the support arm. Each of the blade terminals has a body portion and a blade portion. The body portions are housed in the cavity and the blade portions extend through the slots and are positioned alongside the sides of the support arm. The electrical connector may also have a signal module interconnected to the power module. The electrical connector may also be configured to mate with another electrical connector as part of a connector assembly.

Power connector

A high power electrical connector is provided for transmitting electrical signals from a pair of cables, such as high current capable cables, to an associated member, such as a dash panel. The high power electrical connector includes an insulative housing and a pair of contact path assemblies therethrough for transmission of the electrical signals. The cables can be rotated relative to the housing and rotated relative to each other via the contact path assemblies. Ground path assemblies are also provided for grounding the cables. The cables can each be rotatable relative to a portion of the respective ground path assembly.

High power electrical connector

A connector includes a conductive body with a central bore along a central axis. The body includes a mounting face for positioning adjacent a mounting surface of a circuit member and for removably engaging a reference pad of the circuit member. A center conductive contact includes a board engaging end for removably engaging a signal pad of the circuit member. An inner dielectric insert is positioned between the conductive body and the center conductive contact. The conductive body, the center conductive contact and the inner dielectric insert are configured to operate at a frequency of at least 40 GHz with a return loss of greater than 20 dB.

High frequency coaxial cable

A connector includes a housing with a set of broad-side coupled terminals configured to engage a pair of signal traces on a first panel and a second panel and transfer signals between the signal traces on the first and second panels. The connector may be slid onto the edges and then fastened to one or both of the panels with a locking feature. Multiple signal pairs may be included in the connector and may be electrically separated. The design of the connector helps facilitate high-speed data communication per signal pair with a return loss performance that does not exceed at predetermined level. Certain configurations of the connector may be used for co-planar configurations. Certain configurations of the connector may couple together panels of different thicknesses.

Co-edge connector

A high speed connector includes a plurality of wafer-style components, the wafers including two columns of conductive terminals that are supported in an insulative support body by a plurality of channels. Ribs may be provided to help secure one of the terminals in one of the plurality of channels. The two columns of terminals are configured to form broadside coupled terminal pairs and an air channel is at least partially disposed in the wafer between two adjacent broadside coupled terminal pairs.

High-density, robust connector

A high speed connector includes a plurality of terminal assemblies in which two columns of conductive terminals are supported in an insulative support body, the body including an internal cavity disposed between the two columns of conductive terminals. The terminals are arranged in horizontal pairs, and the internal cavity defines an air channel between each horizontal pair of terminals arranged in the two columns of terminals. The terminals are further aligned with each other in each row so that horizontal faces of the terminals in the two rows face each other to thereby promote broadside coupling between horizontal pairs of terminals.

High-density, robust connector for stacking applications

A high speed connector includes a plurality of wafer-style components in which two columns of conductive terminals are supported in an insulative support body, the body including an internal cavity disposed between the two columns of conductive terminals. The terminals are arranged in horizontal pairs, and the internal cavity defines an air channel between each horizontal pair of terminals arranged in the two columns of terminals. The terminals are further aligned with each other in each row so that horizontal faces of the terminals in the two rows face each other to thereby promote broadside coupling between horizontal pairs of terminals. A dielectric insert is provided between the columns of terminals to thereby influence the broadside coupling between pairs of terminals.

The components further include vertical castellations between adjacent terminals in order to provide electrical isolation to adjacent pairs of terminals.

High-density, robust connector with castellations

A connector assembly is provided with opposing and interengageable first and second connector components. Each of the two components has internal cavities that contain terminal assemblies of either plug or receptacle structure and may further include either a plurality of power terminals or differential signal terminals. The terminals have contact portions, tail portions and interconnecting portions that are partially encapsulated by an insulative outer support frames. The shell forms a wafer and two such wafers are combined together to form a terminal assembly. The terminal assemblies are identical in shape, other than for an engagement means that serves to hold two subframes together as a single assembly.

Terminal assemblies for differential signal connectors

A shielded electrical connector is provided for mounting on a printed circuit board. The connector includes a dielectric housing having a plurality of terminal-receiving cavities and a plurality of board-engaging pads projecting from the bottom of the housing. A plurality of terminals are received in the cavities. Portions of the housing between the terminals are plated with conductive metal material to electrically shield the terminals from each other and to provide a controlled impedance. The plating is continuous onto the pads for connection to appropriate ground circuit means on the printed circuit board. In an alternative embodiment, a shielded electrical connector assembly includes a pair of connectors both of which have plated housings with interengaging plated portions.

Shielded electrical connector

A connector assembly is provided with opposing and interengageable first and second connector components. Each of the two components preferably includes upper and lower housing formed from an insulative material coated with electrically-conductive material, with cavities formed therein that receive terminal assemblies. The upper and lower housings are formed with internal cavities that extend in orthogonal directions. Each cavity contains a terminal assembly of either plug or receptacle structure and may further include either a plurality of power terminals or differential signal terminals. The terminals have contact portions, tail portions and interconnecting portions that are partially encapsulated by an insulative outer shell. In assembling the first and second components, multiple ground connections are made in sequence before any signal or power supply connections are made. In disassembling the components, signals and power supply connections are broken first, then the ground connections are broken in a sequence that is the reverse of what was made during assembly.
