A hydraulic closer and dampener that can be removed and replaced by opening a post cap to then lift an internal closer assembly out of the top of an internally pivotable shaft inside a free-standing floor-mounted post. The remainder of the gate mechanism remains functional during such service. An automatic closing speed adjustment is easy to access and set. There are no external hinges, the gate pivots on an axis coaxial to the cylindrical post.

Floor-mounting gate-closer post with rotary dampener

A bi-swing warehouse door latch system installs an electro-mechanical lock horizontally in the door casings overhead. Each has two catches to drop down on either side of the door. The doors are allowed to swing open when the respective catches are unlatched by a solenoid. The doors are not allowed to swing open when the respective catches are held latched by another solenoid and a teeter arm. Battery powered models produce brief pulses to put the catches in their locked states or unlocked states using a capacitor to store enough energy after power is lost to kick the solenoids. Utility powered versions can be configured to automatically relax into locked or unlocked states when power is lost. The doors are controlled to unlock when those with authorized access are recognized.

Bi-swing warehouse door latch system

A bi-swing gate lock uses an electric actuator to unlatch the gate on request, and a failsafe mode that automatically unlatches the gate during emergencies or power failures. The traplock uses two swing arms that pivot retractable door stops in and out on either side of a closed gate from a stationary 4&#x2033; post. Loads trying to force open a locked gate are redirected through polyurethane pads on the sides of the retractable door stops directly to the insides of matching pockets within the post. Such loads can flex the swing arms, but significant loads will not reach the swing arm pivot bearings. Keeping the gate locked requires electric power applied to a lock actuator, and the loss of power automatically unlocks the traplock. Power applied to a retraction actuator pushes out the retractable door stops. A sensor detects when the gate returns to a closed position and the lock actuator can be energized once again.

Traplock for bi-swing gate

A fishing jig head to be molded with or inserted thereinto a hook thereby form a fishing jig, includes a body, a ring attached on the body, and plate(s) or prong(s) which is shaped and positioned to prevent the fishing jig from landing flat on a bottom of water after the fishing jig is cast into the water. A fishing jig includes the fishing jig head, a hook molded with or inserted into the jig head, and optionally at least one of a weed guard, a skirt, and a trailer.

Fishing lures

To determine a network route corresponding to user needs, costs are dynamically defined for each link of a network. Specifically, based on link characteristics, routing factors are defined and for each factor, allowable values are defined. When determining a route, one or more routing factors and one or more allowable values for each factor are selected. Based on user prioritization of these factors and prioritization of the allowable values for each factor, weights are assigned to the factors and costs are assigned to the values. Link costs are determined by comparing a given link to each selected factor and determining for each factor which allowable value matches the link's characteristics. The cost of each matching value is then weighted by its corresponding factor. The weighted costs are summed to determine a link cost. The link costs are subsequently used to determine a route through the network.

Dynamic cost network routing

The spindle assembly is self-centered on the end of the cylindrically shaped cartridge filter by a three-point grip on the perimeter. A similar spindle assembly is attached to the other end of the cartridge filter such that its axis of rotation is the same as the axis of rotation for the first spindle assembly. The tip of one spindle assembly is rested on the ground while the tip of the other spindle assembly is held by a user's hand. A pressurized stream of air or water is directed at the cartridge filter with the user's other hand such that the stream causes the whole to rotate. The speed of rotation is brought high enough to fling debris from the filter and thus clean it.

System for spin-cleaning closed-end filter cartridges

A handicapped-entrance gate for retrofitting a train-station comprises a door panel that forces itself normally closed, but can be pushed open from either side. A closing mechanism is fully contained within a cap rail along to top edge of the door and operates in either direction to close the gate slowly after it has been opened. Fixed axles enter the gate panel from above and below on the pivoting side. The closing mechanism is geared to at least one of these fixed axles to allow the gate to be opened easily and to self-close over a period of time. Springs are used in opposition to hydraulic dampers such that the springs close the gate and the dampers delay the closing.

Handicapped train-station gate

A method of using vacuum-cleaner filters includes mounting a cylindrical-shaped filter cartridge coaxially on a rotatable spindle. Then air is drawn radially through a filter material wall of the filter cartridge. Periodically, the cartridge filter on the spindle is spun to dislodge any debris entrapped in the filter material by centrifugal force. Air flow is selectively drawn or pushed radially through a filter material wall of the filter cartridge. A clutch disposed between a motor and the spindle is used to periodically spin the cartridge filter on the spindle to dislodge any debris entrapped in the filter material by centrifugal force. Preferably, a motor that can be run in either a forward direction or a reverse direction is used.

Self spin-cleaning canister vacuum

An exercise device comprises a housing with a self-rewinding spool of cord. The cord is threaded out between a pair of inner wedgeblocks that can move together and pinch the cord. The amount of pinch applied determines how much resistance will be applied when the user exercises by pulling out the cord on handles. The inner wedgeblocks are disposed between a pair of outer fixed wedgeblocks. Facing channels in the interfaces between the inner and outer wedgeblocks have ball bearings that run on inclined ramps. When the inner wedgeblocks are pulled by the cord out of alignment with the outer wedgeblocks, the inclined ramps and ball bearings press the inner wedgeblocks together. The more they press together, the more the cord resists being pulled out. An adjustment limits how far the inner wedgeblocks can move out of alignment.

Exercise device

A water filter includes a cartridge filter element mounted on a coaxial bearing so it can be spun. During normal operation, a pressure tank enclosure allows the outside of the cartridge filter element to be submerged. Filtered water is then collected by a filtered-water return inside the cartridge filter element. An air vent disposed in the pressure tank housing allows water to drain away before starting a cleaning cycle, and to bleed off trapped air before returning to normal operation. During cleaning, a flow of clean water is applied to the filtered-water drain. A wash drain in the bottom of the pressure tank enclosure allows used cleaning water to flow out. The reverse water flow through the filtered-water drain forces closed a flapper valve. This, in turn, causes a water spray jet manifold to fill under pressure and cleaning water sprays out from slightly offset nozzles directed at the cartridge filter element. The coaxial bearing allows the cartridge filter element to spin under hydraulic pressure from the nozzle jet spray. A combination of cleaning water spray and centrifugal force thus cleans filter cake and debris from the cartridge filter element in situ.

Embedded spin-clean cartridge-type water filters

A cartridge-filter cleaning spinner comprises a handheld spindle rod that can accommodate a variety of filter sizes. The spindle rod has two inward pointing slip-ring hand-tightened hubs. A cartridge filter is loaded on the spindle rod by removing one of the slip-ring hand-tightened hubs, slipping the cartridge filter onto the spindle snug against the other slip-ring hand-tightened hub, and then reinstalling the first slip-ring hand-tightened hub on the spindle rod. The cartridge filter is then free to spin around while the spindle rod handles themselves remain stationary. A water jet from a garden hose is then directed at one end of the cartridge filter to one side so the cartridge filter begins spinning. The water jet is then worked down slowly to the opposite end while keeping the spinning action going. The process is then repeated, but with the water jet directed to the other side so the cartridge filter spins in the opposite direction. This helps both sides of the longitudinal outside pleats of the cartridge filter material to come clean. The cleaning is accomplished by centrifugal action and does not involve backwashing.

Spinner for cleaning cartridge-type water filters

An article diverter for changing the conveyor path of successive conveyed articles from a single succession to at least two successions of articles. The diverter includes actuators positioned adjacent to one conveyor path but on opposite sides of the conveyor path. A flexible terminal end of one actuator is moveable, across the conveyor path to end adjacent to the flexible terminal end of another actuator when said ends are compressed. Each of the flexible terminal ends are directed towards the center of the first conveyor path when compressed. The flexible terminal ends are connected to piston rods which are retractable and extendable responsive to a control signal. The two actuators contain a member to hold their terminal end parallel to the conveyor path when the rod is extended and in a second position which intersects the conveyor path when the rods are retracted. When the ends of the two actuators intersect the conveyor path, articles contacting the actuators are diverted to a second path.

Diverter for diverting articles transported along a conveyor belt

A diverter changes the conveyor path of successive articles from a single succession to at least two successions of articles. The diverter includes a wheel mounted for rotation in a common plane with the path of the single succession of articles and being movable between one location adjacent the path and other location interposed within the path. The wheel has a top peripheral edge defining a series of radial vanes and pressurized air is directed towards the vanes upstream relative to the path of articles for spinning the wheel towards the succession of articles. The wheel has a resilient, shock-absorbing, peripheral surface for contacting articles and can be adjusted in elevation to contact articles at the same level as the articles center of mass. A flow control valve and conduit direct an air blast transversely of the single succession of articles path at a location slightly upstream of the wheel so as to accelerate articles after contact with the wheel to move along the path of articles guided from the wheel.
