This invention relates to an ink jet ink composition comprising an aqueous medium and microgel particles, said particles comprising a crosslinked copolymer prepared from a monomer mixture comprising at least a crosslinking monomer, a polymerizable carboxylic acid monomer, and one or more polymerizable water insoluble vinyl type monomers. The ink composition may be a colorless ink or it may contain a colorant.

Primer composition for polyesters

An ink jet printing method having the steps of: A) providing an ink jet printer that is responsive to digital data signals; B) loading the printer with an ink jet recording element having a support having thereon a fusible, porous, image-receiving layer containing at least two types of hydrophobic polymer particles having different glass transition temperatures, the first type of hydrophobic polymer particles having a Tg higher than about 60&#xb0; C. that is substantially monodisperse and the second type of hydrophobic polymer particles having a Tg lower than about 25&#xb0; C.; C) loading the printer with an ink jet ink; and D) printing on the image-receiving layer using the ink jet ink in response to the digital data signals.

The present invention is a photographic element which includes a support, at least one silver-halide emulsion layer superposed on the support and a processing-solution-permeable overcoat overlying the silver-halide emulsion layer that becomes water-resistant in the final product, without requiring lamination or fusing. The presence, in the coating composition, of a compound comprising a blocked copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide has been found to improve wet durability, prevent the retention of iron, and improve the conversion of the overcoat to a water-resistant layer during processing. The present invention is also directed to a method of making a photographic print involving developing the photographic element.

An ink jet printing method having the steps of: I) providing an ink jet printer that is responsive to digital data signals; II) loading the printer with a porous ink jet recording element having a support having thereon an image-receiving layer having: (a) inorganic particles having a primary particle size of from about 7 to about 40 nm in diameter which may be aggregated up to about 500 nm; (b) colloidal particles having a mean particle size of from about 20 to about 500 nm; (c) water-insoluble, cationic, polymeric particles having at least about 20 mole percent of a cationic mordant moiety; and (d) inorganic particles encapsulated with an organic polymer having a Tg of less than about 100&deg; C.; III) loading the printer with an ink jet ink composition; and IV) printing on the image-receiving layer using the ink jet ink composition in response to the digital data signals.

The present invention is a method of making a stable colloidal non-aqueous wax particle dispersion. The method includes the steps of forming a mixture of a first vinyl monomer of a polymerizable mono-alpha, beta-ethylenically unsaturated compound free of ionic charge groups and capable of addition polymerization and a second vinyl monomer capable of addition polymerization and wax particle in a aqueous medum. The mixture is polymerized using an azo or diazo initiator to form an aqueous dispersion of composite wax particles. The wax particles are redispersed in an organic solvent.
