Disclosed are systems and methods of effectively wiping and displacing a deep water riser prior to disconnection from a blowout preventer. An exemplary riser displacement system includes a mandrel coupled to a work string, a seal containment canister arranged about at least a portion of the mandrel, and a seal assembly movable between an un-deployed configuration, where the seal assembly is arranged within the seal containment canister, and a deployed configuration, where the seal assembly is arranged outside of the seal containment canister, the seal assembly including a sleeve movably arranged about the mandrel and one or more sealing elements disposed at a distal end of the sleeve.

Riser displacement and cleaning systems and methods of use

Systems and methods for activating a down hole tool in a wellbore. A piston is moveable from a first position to a second position for activating the down hole tool. The piston includes a first side exposed to an activation chamber, and a second side operatively coupled to the down hole tool. A rupture member has a first side exposed to the activation chamber and a second side exposed to the interior of a base pipe. The rupture member is configured to rupture when a pressure differential between the activation chamber and the interior reaches a predetermined threshold value, at which point the rupture member allows fluid communication between the interior and the activation chamber to pressurize the activation chamber and move the piston, thereby activating the down hole tool.

Pressure activated down hole systems and methods

Expansion tools used to centralize a casing-casing annulus in a wellbore. Providing an elongate body having a first force multiplier case coupled to an expansion tool case. A piston may be arranged within the first force multiplier case and configured to translate axially therein. A ram may be arranged within the expansion tool case, the ram being coupled to the piston and configured to translate axially within the expansion tool case in response to a force applied by the piston. One or more lug assemblies are arranged within the expansion tool case and configured to radially expand once engaged by the ram as the ram translates axially.

Expansion tool for non-cemented casing-casing annulus (CCA) wellbores

A method for centralizing an inner casing within an outer casing includes introducing an expansion tool into the inner casing, the expansion tool having an elongate body having a first force multiplier case coupled to an expansion tool case. A piston is arranged within the first force multiplier case and is actuated to move the piston axially in a first direction. A ram is arranged within the expansion tool case and engaged with the piston while moving in the first direction. One or more lug assemblies are arranged within the expansion tool case and are radially expanded with the ram as the ram axially translates in the first direction. The inner casing is plastically deformed with the one or more lug assemblies, which generate a corresponding one or more lugs in the inner casing configured to engage an inner surface of the outer casing.

Method of using an expansion tool for non-cemented casing annulus (CCA) wellbores

Systems and methods for activating a down hole tool in a wellbore. A piston is moveable from a first position to a second position for activating the down hole tool. The piston includes a first side exposed to a first chamber, and a second side exposed to a second chamber. A rupture member has a first side exposed to the first chamber and a second side exposed to a third chamber. The rupture member is configured to rupture when a pressure differential between the first chamber and the third chamber reaches a predetermined threshold value, at which point the rupture member allows fluid communication between the first chamber and the third chamber. When the rupture member is intact, the piston is in the first position, and when the rupture member ruptures, the piston moves to the second position and activates the down hole tool.

A subsurface release plug release apparatus comprising a mandrel comprising a bottom plug portion, a top plug portion, a work string attachment portion, a first release portion between the bottom plug portion and the top plug portion, wherein the first release portion comprises a controlled strength segment configured to fail structurally and thereby release the bottom plug portion at a first fluid pressure, and a second release portion between the top plug portion and the work string attachment portion, wherein the second release portion is configured to release the bottom plug portion at a second fluid pressure, wherein the first fluid pressure is less than the second fluid pressure, a bottom plug body disposed about the bottom plug portion of the mandrel, and a top plug body disposed about the top plug portion of the mandrel.

Subsurface release cementing plug

An apparatus for indicating the orientation of a structure which includes an orienting sub releasably connected at an outer case. The orienting sub is at a preselected orientation relative to the structure. A change in fluid pressure of a predetermined magnitude of flow rate through the orienting sub will indicate that the structure is at a desired orientation in the well.

Method and apparatus for a high side orienting sub for multi-lateral installations

An anchoring device for stopping movement of a sliding component in a mandrel or case is disclosed. The anchoring device includes an elastically deformable anchor seat and an elastically deformable anchor retainer insertable into the anchor seat. The anchor seat has a groove profile thereon which will mate with a groove profile on the mandrel in an anchoring position. The retainer is insertable into the anchor seat and will hold the anchor seat in the anchoring position.

Methods and apparatus for subterranean well bore operations. An exemplary embodiment of a method is a method of activating a device in a subterranean well bore, the device having a baffle adapter configured to achieve sealing contact with a cementing plug, the cementing plug having an outer body and a detachable inner mandrel attached to the outer body, including the steps of: displacing the cementing plug into contact with the baffle adapter so that the outer body of the cementing plug achieves sealing contact with the baffle adapter; and applying a differential pressure across the cementing plug, thereby activating the device. An exemplary embodiment of an apparatus is a baffle adapter, having an inner bore designed to engage and seal against the outer body of a plug.

Methods and devices useful in stage cementing operations are provided. One example of an apparatus may comprise a catcher tube assembly and a deformable device. One example of a method is a method of stage cementing a casing string comprising: positioning a catcher tube on top of a float collar; pumping a first fluid through the casing string; placing a first deformable device in the casing string; and pumping a second fluid through the casing string, thereby causing the first deformable device to translate downward in the casing string and into the catcher tube.

An exemplary embodiment of a method includes injecting a cement composition into a casing string, and deploying within the casing string at least one cementing plug having an outer body and a detachable inner mandrel attached to the outer body.

A regulating valve assembly for regulating fluid flow through a passage, the assembly having: a back-flow valve comprising a seat and a closure element, wherein the closure element engages with the seat in a closed configuration and disengages from the seat in an open configuration; a lock in mechanical communication with the back-flow valve to lock the backflow valve in the open configuration; and a forward-flow valve in mechanical communication with the lock and comprising a seat and a closure element, wherein the closure element engages with the seat in a closed configuration and disengages from the seat in an open configuration.

Reverse cementing float equipment

Zonal isolation of well bores is often desirable for performing downhole operations such as stimulation operations. In certain embodiments, diverter plugs for achieving zonal isolation in a casing string in a well bore may comprise a mandrel having a first end and a second end; a compressible body attached to and surrounding a longitudinal portion of the mandrel; and a sealing nose attached to the first end of the mandrel. In certain embodiments, systems for achieving zonal isolation of a casing string in a well bore may comprise a diverter plug comprising a mandrel having a first end and a second end, a compressible body attached to and surrounding a longitudinal portion of the mandrel, and a sealing nose attached to the first end of the mandrel; and a landing collar sized to mate with a portion of the sealing nose of the diverter plug.
