Described herein are photonic sources and related system architectures that can satisfy the optical power requirements of large photonic accelerators. Some embodiments relate to a computer comprising a photonic accelerator configured to perform matrix multiplication; a fiber array optically coupled to the photonic accelerator; and a photonic source optically coupled to the fiber array. The photonic source comprising a laser array comprising a plurality of monolithically co-integrated lasers, and a coupling lens array comprising a plurality of monolithically co-integrated lenses, the coupling lens array optically coupling the laser array to the fiber array. The laser array is configured to output between 0.1 W and 10 W of optical power.

An implantable vital sign sensor including a housing including a first portion, the first portion defining a first open end, a second open end opposite the first end, and a lumen there through, the first portion being sized to be implanted substantially entirely within the blood vessel wall of the patient. A sensor module configured to measure a blood vessel blood pressure waveform is included, the sensor module having a proximal portion and a distal portion, the distal portion being insertable within the lumen and the proximal portion extending outward from the first open end.

Disclosed herein is a scanning ladar transmitter that employs an optical field splitter/inverter to improve the gaze characteristics of the ladar transmitter on desirable portions of a scan area. Also disclosed is the use of scan patterns such as Lissajous scan patterns for a scanning ladar transmitter where a phase drift is induced into the scanning to improve the gaze characteristics of the ladar transmitter on desirable portions of the scan area. Also disclosed is a compact beam scanner assembly that includes an ellipsoidal reimaging mirror.

A spectrometer design method that corrects aberration by using crossed optical paths and minor alignment, simplifies manufacture by applying the light entrance slit and aperture on opposite sides of a transparent input block, and creates a more compact footprint by placing a 45 degree mirror or right angle prism directly in front of the detector is disclosed.

A method of making specially shaped mirrors for astigmatism correction in spectrometers having a folded optical path using two mirrors by determining the curvature of one or both mirrors in the vertical direction such that the focal length in the sagittal direction of each of said one or both mirrors becomes the same as the focal length in the tangential direction wherein the radius of curvature of each of one or both mirror in the sagittal plane is adjusted to be equal to the radius of curvature in the tangential plane of each of one or both mirrors times the square of the cosign of the angle of incidence of the optical path at each of one or both mirrors is described.

Astigmatism compensation in spectrometers using non-spherical mirrors

A method and circuit is disclosed for providing a control signal to a laser cavity controller. The cavity has two completely reflective surfaces. A long lived laser medium stores energy within the cavity. A computer generated waveform generated from enough values to appear substantially smooth after being amplified is provided to a control circuit having a Pockels cell or a Bragg cell. By controlling the amplitude of the computer generated waveform, the output pulse of the laser cavity is controlled.
