A process for converting feedstock into liquid hydrocarbon fuel condensate includes the steps of providing an unconventional feedstock for producing liquid hydrocarbon fuel, providing a heated heat transfer medium flowing through at least one thermal reaction zone under substantially carbon rejection process conditions and placing the feedstock onto the heated heat transfer medium flow so that the feedstock substantially rides on the flow surface of the heated heat transfer medium without substantially any mixing of the feedstock with the heat transfer medium, vaporizing at least a portion of the feedstock to form vapours while the feedstock is in the thermal reaction zones by heat transfer to the feedstock from the heat transfer medium and condensing the vapours into a liquid hydrocarbon fuel condensate.

Liquid fuel feedstock production process

Fuel cells, and renewable-semi-liquid fuel mixtures, useful as anode materials, for said fuel cells are disclosed. The fuels are comprised in part of materials intercalated with hydrogen, alkali metals, or alkali metal hydrides, dispersed in liquid carriers. The chemical energy generated by the reaction of the fuel mixtures with oxygen, or an oxygen carrier such as air, water, or hydrogen peroxide, can be converted into electrical energy in fuel cells. Once converted, the by-products of the reaction may be collected and those components that where chemically modified in the reaction can be renewed by conversion or re-intercalation of hydrogen, alkali metals, or alkali metal hydrides.

Renewable, energetic, nanodimensional dispersion

Catalysts and composite materials comprised of catalytically active materials intercalated with alkali metals and/or optionally coated on alkali metals or combinations of alkali and alkali earth metals are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for enhancing reactions between hydrogen and organic materials by reacting said catalysts with solvents where such reactions generate a portion of the hydrogen and heat necessary to cause the desired reaction between an organic material and hydrogen and also act to fracture said catalytically active material into higher surface area particles with enhanced catalytic ability. Said catalysts may be dispersed in immiscible aprotic solvents to enhance transportation and safety considerations prior to use.

Hydrogenation catalysts and methods

Highly active supported catalyst compositions and methods for producing more active supported catalyst compositions are disclosed. Said methods comprise steps for applying an adhesive coating of a catalytically active exfoliated transition metal dichalcogenide and promoters to the surface of a support medium prior to filling the pores of the support medium with catalytically active metals and/or promoters. A new method for applying a surface coating to a support is also disclosed.

Method for producing an improved supported catalyst

An improved inclusive method for purifying a polar solvent such as water includes the re-suspension of finely divided layered materials within which contaminants have been captured, wherein the re-suspension is in a solvent selected primarily on the basis of its ability to re-suspend the finely divided layered materials and/or for its effect on the included contaminant material, and within which additional materials may or may not be intentionally dissolved, mixed, or suspended, in order to recover and reuse the finely divided layered material and/or to selectively recover a specific included contaminant or several specific included contaminants in series. The process is useful in the rapid and efficient recovery of the finely divided layered materials, and in the removal of suspended particles, dissolved materials, immiscible liquids, and living organisms from the polar solvent.

Methods for purifying a solvent

A new class of metal hydride alloy and processes for forming these alloys is disclosed. The alloys are comprised essentially of organically soluble metal hydrides and single molecular layer type transition metal dichalcogenides. They are produced via a non-metallurgical route in organic solvents under mild conditions. These alloys have exhibited improved qualities in battery applications.

Soluble metal hydride/transition metal dichalcogenide alloys

Disclosed are methods for purifying solvents, by causing contaminants to be included within layers of dispersed layered materials, and then separating the restacked combined contaminant/layered material from the solvent. The methods may be utilized to remove materials suspended in the solvents, materials immiscible with the solvents, and are especially useful for separating soluble materials from the solvents within which they are dissolved. The application of these methods will be beneficial in the remediation of polluted soil and water, the desalination of water, waste oil and gray water purification, the preparation of pharmaceuticals, and many other areas.

A fixed ballast containment unit connected with a ship, comprised of an outer keel shell (16) within which a number of metal hydride containers (18) are supported by internal braces (17) in a manner which provides passages around the metal hydride containers (18) through which a number of heat intermediums may be induced to flow, so that the reactive properties of hydrogen with metal hydrides can be applied to various ships systems, while the mass of the ballast containment unit provides an inertial force to counteract external forces acting on the ship.
