In an approach to augmenting authentication methods using a face covering, one or more computer processors receive an image of a user wearing a face covering, where a portion of the face of the user is visible in the image, and the face covering covers another portion of the face of the user in the image. One or more computer processors detect an identifier operably coupled with the face covering. One or more computer processors determine whether the first portion of the face of the user is associated with the identifier. In response to determining the first portion of the face of the user is not associated with the identifier, one or more computer processors receive an alternate authentication. One or more computer processors authenticate the user.

A method, system and computer program product for identifying one or more niche services to combine into a common service, wherein the niche service is a part of a service oriented architecture (SOA). The extensible markup language (XML) schema of the one or more niche services is aggregated into a combined XML schema, wherein the combined XML schema is the XML schema of the common service. A web services description language (WSDL) of the one or more niche services are aggregated to establish a combined WSDL, wherein the combined WSDL is the WSDL of the common service. The common service is generated from the combined XML schema and the combined WSDL. The combined WSDL, utilized to identify the combined service, comprises a service provider URL, one or more service operations, and combined XML schema. The combined XML schema is associated with a common service request and a common service response. When the XML schema of the niche service is not equal with the combined XML schema, mediation is invoked.

A command line interface for a data processing system includes an output facility that displays outputs to an operator, a parser that validates inputs entered a command line, a command processor that processes commands validated by the parser. The command line interface preferably supports a prompt mode in which the output facility displays an editable prompt that may be modified by the user to construct a command. In addition, the parser preferably defines separate validation and execution point inputs including at least one validation-only point input, so that inputs are permitted to span multiple input lines and so that atomic sets of commands can be constructed by entering multiple commands on a single input line. The command line interface is also equipped with an in-line help facility that, in response to the parser detecting a help request in a partial command entered at the command line, automatically presents possible input options that can be entered at the command line to complete the partial command.

A command line interface for a network management platform includes a parser that parses and validates inputs entered at a command line, a command processor that, responsive to validation of a command, causes an operation specified by the command to be performed, and an output facility that presents outputs of the command line interface. The parser preferably enforces a syntax addressing a plurality of attributes of a network device as a tree-like hierarchy including at least two containers. The parser permits network device attributes, which are each contained in at least one container, to be contained by multiple containers of the same type so that such attributes are addressable via a plurality of different access paths. A method and system for securing confidential data in a computer network, wherein the computer network includes a management information database that assists in the management of the computer network. Initially, confidential data are identified within the management information database. Next, particular data objects are associated with the identified confidential data. Thereafter, the identified confidential data are accessed from the management information database. Finally each particular data object and its associated confidential data are automatically converted into a secure data object, in response to accessing the confidential data from the management information database, such that the confidential data may only be understood or altered external to the management information database by converting the secure data object back into the particular data objects and the associated confidential data. The particular data objects may comprise primitive data objects while the secure data object may be composed of an opaque data object. Network management format and conventions may be governed by a network management protocol.

Method and system for securing confidential data in a computer network

A method of data retrieval reduces the number of Instrumentation message flows in a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) device. The method uses 'look-ahead' algorithms whereby data items which have not yet been requested by the Agent (but are expected to be) are retrieved from Instrumentation. The method comprises the step of retrieving from the Instrumentation an entire row of data from an SNMP table whenever a GetRequest or GetNextRequest Protocol Data Unit (PDU) is issued by the Manager to the Agent. A SubAgent saves this row in anticipation of a subsequent request for another column in this same row thereby eliminating the need for further Instrumentation message flows for further data retrieval from this row. Whenever a new GetRequest is issued by the Manager, a new set of data is retrieved from the Instrumentation. The method further comprises the step of retrieving the next subsequent data item in response to a GetNextRequest against the last row in a given column thereby eliminating the need for a second message exchange at an 'end of column' condition.

Method for reducing SNMP instrumentation message flows

A new system and method allows a Manager in a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) environment to gather updates from its Agents. The system and method comprise the unique provision of an index which is used in each of the Agent's tables for indicating the various revisions thereof. The index lexicographically increases with each revision to the table. The Manager maintains a record of the index of the data which it has received from its Agents, requesting only that data having a lexicographically larger indexing. Further, the index is used in related tables so that the tables will be kept in 'sync' in that the Manager will know whether it has the latest updates so that an accurate picture may be portrayed.

A new system and method allow one or more Managers in a network to retrieve from an Agent problem determination data relating to the Agent's Components. The system and method of the present invention allow the Manager to use standard mechanisms to retrieve and display the Agent's problem determination data. A generic collection subsystem created by the Agent acts as an interface for the Agent to the Components for collecting and organizing the problem determination data received from the Components. The collection subsystem receives and stores problem determination data from each of the components in tables which are organized based upon the type of problem determination data. Within each table, the data objects may be stored chronologically, for example. The collection subsystem responds to all requests from the Agent for stored problem determination data. The requests may specify particular parameters such as the type of problem and time it occurred.

System and method for collecting and retrieving network problem

A system and method for recording accounting times by an Agent in a network and retrieving the accounting times by the network Manager. Three types of data objects in each of the Agent's stored records are provided. Record Number is the sequence number of the record in the file. Recording time is an indication of the time the record was stored in the file since a certain point in time, such as after the Agent's clock began running. Record Type is the particular type of record stored. The Record Type can either be DATA representing normal accounting data or TIME representing time data used for correlating the Manager's and the Agent's time-keeping. Upon receipt of an accounting data record of type DATA, the manager uses the record's Recording time to help determine the point of time accorded to that event. The Manager then uses the previous record of type TIME to adjust the Recording time of the received accounting data record relative to the Manager's precise calendar time.
