In example implementations, an adjustable speed operator governor release for a rolling fire shutter is provided. The adjustable speed operator governor release includes a shaft coupled to the rolling fire shutter, a gear on a first end of the shaft to engage a spring-loaded clutch during a fire, wherein the spring-loaded clutch is moved to disengage from a drive assembly and to engage the gear of the adjustable speed governor to operate the rolling fire shutter, and a linear speed adjusting mechanism coupled to the shaft and the gear to control a speed of free fall of the rolling fire shutter during the fire.

A closure may include a door configured to seal an opening. The door may include a section with an internal cavity. The closure may also include a core within a first portion of the internal cavity of the section. The core may be configured to expand from a relaxed state to an expanded state and provide a seal between the door and an edge of the opening when the core is in the expanded state.

Fire rated door

A fabric fire rated door is described. The door utilizes a fire resistant fabric curtain with an end lock attachment. A tubular steel shaft is driven by an internal tube motor. The shaft is supported to minimize deflection. Single door shafts can also be joined together with a coupler shaft to create infinitely wide doors. The coupler shaft is spring loaded to act as a take up reel for a coupling curtain which will overlap each adjacent single door shaft. All curtains are attached to the same bottom bar. A hood covers the shaft, curtain, and the supports that run across the width of the door. The curtain travels over these horizontal supports as it drops down through the hood opening. The horizontal supports keep the curtain in position for proper seal during a fire/smoke event.

The present invention presents a method to permit emergency egress through an access opening covered by an overhead coiling fire door. Upon receiving an alarm notification from a first detector located on one side of the access opening the door is power closed to a predetermined height and held there for the predetermined time, then power closed to a fully closed position. Upon receiving a second alarm notification from a second detector located on the opposite side of the access opening the door enters into a secondary alarm condition. The door is power closed and awaits notification to initiate a secondary emergency egress sequence. The secondary emergency egress sequence comprises receiving a door opening notification, opening the door, holding the door open for a predetermined time, and reclosing the door. Upon primary power restoration or a return to a non-alarm condition the door returns to its preset open position.
