Provided is a method for preparing a latex composition, comprising providing an ethylene copolymer comprising copolymerized units of ethylene and copolymerized units of at least one polar comonomer; dissolving the ethylene copolymer with one or more latex monomers to prepare a solution; mixing the solution with water; optionally adding a surfactant or protectant colloid to form an aqueous emulsion; and polymerizing the latex monomer in the emulsion to form a latex composition comprising the ethylene copolymer and a latex polymer. Further provided are the emulsion polymerization product and the mini-emulsion polymerization product of at least one ethylene copolymer substantially dissolved in at least one latex monomer, such as an acrylic, styrene or vinyl monomer. Finally, formulated products comprising or produced from the emulsion or mini-emulsion polymerization product and articles comprising or produced from the formulated products are provided.

Disclosed is a laminar shaped article comprising a heterogeneous blend of (a) a composition comprising a vinyl halide or vinylidene halide polymer and optionally an ethylene copolymer containing carboxyl and/or carbon monoxide moieties, and (b) a polyolefin functionalized with a comonomer selected from the group consisting of maleic anhydride, maleic acid diesters, maleic acid monoesters, itaconic anhydride, itaconic acid diesters, itaconic acid monoesters, fumaric acid diesters, fumaric acid monoesters, or combinations thereof as a compatibilizer; and (c) a polyamide wherein the polyamide is present in the vinyl halide or vinylidene halide polymer as a multitude of overlapping layers.

Disclosed is a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising (i) about 10-60 wt % of at least one aliphatic polyamide; (ii) about 0.8-15 wt % of at least one graft-modified ethylene-olefin elastomeric copolymer; (iii) about 0.8-15 wt % of at least one graft-modified ethylene-propylene elastomeric copolymer, and (iv) about 35-85 wt % of at least one polyether-ester-amide block copolymer having a shore D of about 50-60 (as measured in accordance with ASTM D2240), with the total wt % of all components in the composition totaling to 100 wt %. Further disclosed herein is an article made from the thermoplastic elastomer composition disclosed above.

The disclosure provides a melt processible theromoplastic composition, comprising a major proportion of a base polymer comprising a first melt processible thermoplastic polymer having a first Fedor's solubility parameter and a first viscosity; and a combination of a carrier polymer and a surface modifying additive, the carrier polymer comprising a second melt processible thermoplastic polymer which has a second Fedor's solubility parameter that is at least about 2.5 (J/cm)lower than the first Fedor's solubility parameter, and a second viscosity, the carrier polymer being adhered to the surface modifying additive, and wherein the first viscosity is at least about 10 times the second viscosity.

Plastic surfaces having improved surface characteristics

Disclosed is a composition comprising a blend and a modifier in which the blend comprises polycarbonate and acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene terpolymer and 15 weight % or less of a modifier wherein the modifier comprises an ethylene ester copolymer and either an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene block copolymer or a core-shell polymer. The compositions can be used for packaging of foodstuffs, medical solutions and industrial chemicals.

Ionomeric ethylene vinyl alcohol compositions

Polyethylene-based adhesive compositions which contain as little as 5 weight percent, and up to 35 weight percent of an acid-grafted metallocene polyethylene have superior peel strength to comparable compositions containing an acid grafted non-metallocene and EVA or EMA polyethylene. Compositions where the acid-grafted metallocene polyethylene component is based on a metallocene polyethylene having a melt-flow ratio of less than 6.53 and an Mw/Mn of greater than the melt flow ratio less 4.63 are as good adhesive compositions as those based on metallocene resins falling outside these parameters.

The present invention is directed to extrudable sealants which are particularly well suited for bonding a metal based, lidding material to a polystyrene container. The most preferred sealant compositions of the present invention preferably contain an acid copolymer, a tackifier and a polyolefin.
