An insertion and removal assembly for installing and removing hard drives from an enclosure, such as a computer chassis, is provided. The insertion and removal assembly includes a sliding member configured to receive a hard drive, a lever handle rotatably connected to the sliding member and an attachment wall having a plurality of protrusions defining a plurality of slots, each slot configured to receive one sliding member. A user reveals a slot for accepting the installation of the hard drive in the enclosure by pushing a tab on the attachment wall near a distal portion of the lever handle to release the lever handle and then pulling the lever handle outward exposing the sliding member. A hard drive is inserted into the sliding member and pushed inwardly into the chassis. Conversely, the sliding member can contain a hard drive which is partially ejected by unlatching and subsequently pulling the lever.

A flat panel display structure is disclosed that can support significant loads on the viewing surface without fracturing or permanently damaging the video display. A rigid body is fitted in a peripheral frame and situated behind the viewing surface. When a load is applied to the video display, the load is transferred to the rigid body, which absorbs and distributes the load to the peripheral frame.

The present invention includes a mounting device for a computer drive that includes a flexible locking plate and one or more tabs for securing the drive. A contact point allows a portion of the locking plate to be reversibly flexed out of a plane that substantially corresponds to the plane of the flexible locking plate when not flexed is used to effect.

A device retention mechanism suitable for mounting a device in a chassis includes a chassis suitable for receiving a device. The chassis has a first side and a second side, the first side oriented generally perpendicular to the second side. A retention member is mounted to the first side of the chassis to enable the retention member to exert a force against a device, thereby applying the force from the retention member to the device and to the second side of the chassis, thereby securing the device in the chassis.

Method and apparatus for removal and assembly of a device within a chassis

The present invention discloses an accent panel incorporated with an aperture in the panel that allows access to a support member attached to a bezel. A person's hand may fit within the aperture and grasp the support member to allow easy transport of the computer. The panel may be installed and removed easily without the need for tools. A user of a computer equipped with an accent panel of the present invention may be able to match the color of the front of his or her computer to his or her surroundings while still allowing access to a support member to allow easier transport of a computer.

The present invention is directed to a device retention apparatus. A device retention apparatus includes a housing suitable for mounting an information handling system device and a retaining portion disposed on the housing, the retaining portion suitable for engaging an information handling system device when disposed in the housing. A selection mechanism suitable for securing the information handling system device to the housing is slideably connected to the housing so as to be capable of moving between a first position and a second position. Therefore, as the selection mechanism is moved from the first position to the second position, the selection mechanism contacts the retaining portion thereby securing an information handling system device to the housing.

Device retention apparatus

Apparatus for mounting a circuit board within the chassis of an electronic device are disclosed. The chassis of an electronic device includes a mounting panel assembly having at least one slot for receiving a standoff mounted to the circuit board. Each slot includes a first end suitable for allowing insertion and removal of the standoff through the slot and a second end suitable for engaging the standoff to retain the standoff in the slot for securing the circuit board to the mounting panel assembly. A ramp member extends beneath the slot adjacent to the first end for urging the standoff toward the second end when the standoff is inserted in the slot through the first end.

A light conductor and restore spring assembly is made of molded light translucent material which exhibits a significant degree of deflectability and the further ability to rebound or restore to its original shape when released. The framework of the spring forms a light conductor. If the light path needs to be deviated from a straight path the framework of the spring may have reflective surfaces formed into the body of the assembly to reflect the light rays from the input end to the diffusing end of the light path. The external surfaces of the spring/light conductor assembly constrain the light loss by reflecting the light back into the assembly and redirecting it along its path and toward the reflective surfaces or the diffusing end of the light pipe.

A front removable gauge assembly including a case gauge housing for locking the assembly to an instrument panel. A printed circuit board is mounted within the case gauge housing in electrical contact with conductors of a connector shell which extends from the case gauge housing for electrically connecting elements on the printed circuit board to an instrument signal source. A front removable gauge unit is removably mounted within the case gauge housing and contains an instrument assembly which can be mounted for 90-degree or 255-degree pointer sweep. From the bottom of the front removable gauge unit, a connector stud and wiper contacts extend. The connector stud has a protruding key which engages the bottom surface of the printed circuit board upon clockwise rotation of the front removable gauge unit to thereby removably lock it to the printed circuit boards. Also, with rotation, the wiper contacts are pressed against contact pads on the printed circuit board from which they remove oxidation and improve electrical contact. For removal, the front removable gauge unit is simply rotated in a counterclockwise direction to disengage the key from the printed circuit board.
