An engine including a fuel tank, a carburetor, a speed control lever, and a transport valve. The carburetor includes a throttle valve movable between a first throttle position and a second throttle position. The speed control lever is coupled to the throttle valve and is movable between a first position corresponding to the first throttle position and a second position corresponding to the second throttle position. The transport valve is fluidly coupled between the fuel tank and the carburetor, and includes a valve element moveable between an open valve position allowing fuel flow between the fuel tank and the carburetor, and a closed valve position preventing fuel flow between the fuel tank and the carburetor. Movement of the speed control lever to the second position moves the valve element to the closed valve position to stop fluid flow between the fuel tank and the carburetor.

Transport valve system for outdoor power equipment

Systems and apparatuses include an engine including a fuel tank, a carburetor including a throttle valve movable between a first throttle position and a second throttle position, a governor system configured to move the throttle valve, and a speed control system including a control lever defining a first actuation distance, and a bellcrank movable between an idle position and a high speed position and coupled to the governor system. The bellcrank defining a second actuation distance that is different than the first actuation distance.

Engine speed control system

A carburetor includes a body having an inner wall and an air/fuel passageway. An insert includes a base having a shape that closely matches the inner wall and a first tower having a first end disposed within the air/fuel passageway. A main circuit passageway is at least partially formed within the first tower and has a first end in fluid communication with the air/fuel passageway and a second end in fluid communication with the fuel bowl chamber. The main circuit passageway carries fuel from the fuel bowl chamber to the air/fuel passageway during engine operation when the throttle valve is opened. A second tower has a first end coupled to the base and a second end spaced away from the base. The first end of the first tower, the second end of the second tower, and the base are the sole engagement points between the insert and the body.

Carburetor including one-piece fuel-metering insert

A carburetor includes a body, a throttle valve positioned in an air/fuel passageway in the body, a fuel bowl coupled to the body, a fuel bowl chamber at least partially defined by the fuel bowl, and a one-piece fuel-metering insert coupled to the body. The insert includes an idle circuit passageway having a first end in fluid communication with a fuel passageway in the body and a second end in fluid communication with the fuel bowl chamber. The insert also includes a main circuit passageway having a first end in fluid communication with the air/fuel passageway and a second end in fluid communication with the fuel bowl chamber.

A carburetor configured for use with an internal combustion engine includes a body defining a passageway therein, a throttle lever including a cam surface, and a throttle valve positioned in the passageway and responsive to movement of the throttle lever. The throttle valve is configured to rotate about a first axis from a wide-open first position to a second position at least 50 degrees from the first position. The carburetor also includes a choke lever including a follower surface configured to be engaged by the cam surface and a choke valve positioned in the passageway and responsive to movement of the choke lever. One of the cam surface and the follower surface includes an arcuate segment having a constant radius centered on a second axis. The arcuate segment is sufficiently long such that the throttle valve is configured to move at least 15 degrees while the other of the cam surface and the follower surface engages the arcuate segment.

Carburetor and automatic choke assembly for an engine

An air/fuel mixing apparatus, configured for use with an internal combustion engine, includes a body defining a passageway therein, a throttle lever including a cam surface, a throttle valve positioned in the passageway and responsive to movement of the throttle lever, a choke lever including a follower surface configured to be engaged by the cam surface, and a choke valve positioned in the passageway and responsive to movement of the choke lever and the throttle lever. The air/fuel mixing apparatus also includes a solenoid configured to disengage the choke lever from the throttle lever, and move the choke valve to a substantially-opened position.

Engine air/fuel mixing apparatus

An internal combustion engine including a carburetor. The internal combustion engine includes a choke valve disposed within the carburetor, and a choke lever interconnected with the choke valve for movement with the choke valve. The engine also includes a throttle valve disposed within the carburetor and a throttle lever interconnected with the throttle valve for movement therewith. An intermediate lever is disposed between the throttle lever and the choke lever for movement with the choke and throttle levers. In one embodiment, the engine includes a connecting link coupled between the choke and intermediate levers, the connecting link movable with movement of the choke lever such that movement of the choke lever is translated into movement of the intermediate lever.

Automatic choke for an engine

An automatic choke apparatus for use in an internal combustion engine. The choke apparatus includes a choke valve automatically operable in response to the speed of the engine, a thermally conductive assembly that conducts heat from exhaust gases produced by the engine, a thermally responsive member in thermal communication with the thermally conductive assembly, and a mechanism that moves in response to the thermally responsive member to cause the choke valve to remain in at least a partially open position during engine starting when the thermally responsive member senses a temperature above a predetermined temperature. The thermally conductive assembly at least partially surrounds the path of the exhaust gases.

A priming system for an engine carburetor. The priming system includes a passageway having a first end in fluid flow communication with a variable volume chamber of a primer bulb and a second end in fluid flow communication with a fuel well. The second end of the passageway opens into the fuel well below a static priming fuel level which is in said fuel well and which at least partially extends into said passageway.
