A multimedia controller apparatus provides for computer programmed volume control and summing of audio signals in an enhanced multimedia environment. The apparatus is capable of receiving and processing inputs from a CD-ROM FM synthesizer, general MIDI audio, microphone, PCM sampled sound, and telephony systems. From these inputs, it produces outputs for PCM sampled sound, telephony systems, and stereo line-out. Additionally, it provides for the integration of telephonic support functions into a multimedia system. The multimedia controller apparatus comprises a volume control portion for receiving and controlling the volume of a plurality of analog input signals. The volume controlled input signals are then combined by an aggregation portion. A telephony processing portion is also provided for processing the telephony input signals. Stereo outputs, mono outputs, digital samplable outputs, and telephony outputs can be formed from the combined analog and telephony signals by an output portion. To control the volume control portion, the processing portion, and the output portion, a data control portion is provided which responds to externally generated control data.

An actuating system for inflating a dual compartment life raft includes a spaced pair of inflation tanks, each mounted on a different one of the two compartments for relative movement when inflation of the raft is initiated. One end of each of a pair of pullout cables is operatively connected to a different one of the tank valves, with the free end of each cable being anchored to the other tank valve. A pull lanyard is secured to the cables for movement along their lengths. A short pull stroke on the lanyard in any direction opens both tank valves. In the event that only one tank valve is manually opened in this manner, the resulting partial inflation of the raft moves the tanks further apart, pulling the still connected cable from its valve and automatically completing the inflation process.

Life raft inflation system

A programming module for programming a number of programmable read only memory (PROM) units secured onto a single memory module for use at a selected location of several locations in a programmable controller using a microprocessor operated on a low order logic voltage level and having output address lines, and input/output bi-directional data lines and having means for creating a read signal in a read line and a write signal in a write line. The programming module comprises an input side with terminals connected with the address lines, the data lines, the read line and the write line and an output side having address terminals, program voltage terminals and data terminals for connection with the single memory module to be programmed. The programming module includes its own high level program voltage power source and decoding means for decoding a memory address and applying a programming voltage to a selected PROM unit in response to an address received by the programming module.

In a double-tubed life vest with the inside marginal edges of the tubes fastened to each other temporary connecting members on the tubes releasably hold the outside marginal edges of the tubes together. The temporary connecting members are released when the gas pressure in the vest is greater than a given pressure. The gas occupies a first volume when the temporary connecting members are holding the corresponding sections of the tubes together such that the first volume of gas at the first pressure provides sufficient buoyancy to the life vest to support a body. The gas can occupy a second volume when the temporary connecting members are released to allow the gas to occupy a greater volume such that the addition of more gas in the tubes provides greater buoyancy to the body.
